1923 Bentley 3 Litre TT Tourer

After W.O. Bentley's success in the 1922 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy, when his 3 Litres won the team prize, finishing second, fourth and fifth, W.O. introduced the TT Replica (later known as the Speed Model) on the standard 9-foot, 9.5-inch chassis. The Tourist Trophy model was fitted with a tuned engine that featured higher compression pistons and special carburetors. Almost all of the 71 TT Replicas carried Vanden Plas coachwork, but this example is one of seven bodied by the London coachbuilder Park Ward. During the 1920s and 1930s, the car was owned by Ashley Havinden, the designer of the famous Keep Calm and Carry On World War II poster and other BP and Chrysler advertising campaigns. After the war, the car was owned by several Bentley Drivers Club members and was often raced and rallied in BDC events. Despite its many years of enthusiastic use, this 3 Litre retains its original Park Ward body.
