In Michigan, a Ford Dealer wanted to go racing but could not get a factory lightweight. So instead, he took an R-Code Galaxy and went to the Ford Dealer auction and bought a fiberglass hood, deck lid, fenders, and Fiberglass Doors. Ford only made 18 sets of Fiberglass Doors. Additional modifications were made to the rear quarter panels. Upon completion, the car was raced at local tracks in and around Michigan.
The car sat in a barn for many years and the son of the owner restored it in the 1990s with a 1964 427 Engine as the original engine blew up and was gone. Mr. Morgan of Pennsylvania purchased the car and took out the 1964 427 engine and installed a 527 cubic-inch 'Crammer' engine, which won 'Motor Master Engine of the Year for 2011' production 870 horsepower.
