1925 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Oxford Touring

On October 18, 1919, Rolls-Royce of America was launched in Springfield, Massachusetts. They adopted many refinements suited to the American driver, mainly left-hand-drive. The first Springfield Silver Ghosts were assembled with parts from England. American vendors were added for accessories and electrical systems. Updated features and mechanical refinements were first applied to Derby-built Rolls-Royces and then added to Springfield cars. As such, four-wheel brakes came late to American Silver Ghosts. Some American parts were considered superior and British and American cars shared American-made Bosch magnetos and coil ignition, Bijur generators and starters, and American-made wire wheels. Chassis No. S142ML features custom coachwork by Rolls-Royce's in-house coachbuilding arm more commonly known as Rolls-Royce Custom Coachworks.
