The Porsche 928 was a front-engined V8 GT that was originally intended to replace the 911. It had a conventional engine arrangement, more power, seating for four, and an aerodynamic aluminum body. The 928 holds the distinction of being the first sports car to earn the Car of the Year award (1978). It did not, however, replace the 911, as the 911 is still with us, and the 928 production ended after 18 years, in 1995. During its production lifespan, it was given numerous improvements including more power, improved aerodynamics, better handling, bigger brakes, wider wheels, and Mercedes-sourced automatic transmissions were added throughout the 80s and 90s.
This particular example is an early U.S.-market Porsche 928 that was optioned with an additional right-hand mirror and limited slip. It left the factory wearing classic Grand Prix White with a Green-upholstered interior with beige Pasha velour cloth. There are 16-inch Teledial wheels, both flag mirrors, and a spoiler-less rear hatch. There are Recaro seat inserts with Pasha velour cloth and an original Porsche-branded Blaupunkt CR Stereo.By Daniel Vaughan | Apr 2024
