2006 Jaguar XJ

The definition of elegance. Refined performance. One-of-a-kind presence.

2006 Jaguar XJ
The XJ is the rare automobile that needs no calling card. A truly modern update of a timeless classic. Few cars have ever featured more luxurious appointments; even fewer can dare to compete in the quarter-mile. For the most demanding luxury vehicle aficionados, we proudly present the flagship of the Jaguar line.2006 Jaguar XJ
Performance as refined as the appearance.
In an automobile this refined, one might expect performance to take a backseat. But the XJ handles curves in a manner equally as elegant as the curves across its hood.

2006 Jaguar XJ
4.2–liter V8
The 4.2-liter V8, standard on the XJ8, XJ8L, and Vanden Plas, generates 300 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 303 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,100 rpm, and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.3 seconds.

2006 Jaguar XJ
Supercharged V8
The XJR and Super V8 models incorporate a supercharged version of Jaguar´s 4.2-liter V8 with twin intercoolers. The stunning result: 400-horsepower at 6,100 rpm, a peak torque of 413 lb.-ft. from just 3,500 rpm, and 0-60 acceleration in 5.0 seconds flat.

2006 Jaguar XJ
Best-in-class Fuel Economy
EPA estimated fuel economy ratings for the XJ8 and XJ8L are a best-in-class 18 city and 27 highway. For another perspective, ponder this fact: at these ratings, a typical highway driver could journey over 600 miles before refueling.

6-speed Transmission
All XJ engines utilize an advanced electronic six-speed automatic transmission, providing drivers with seamless shifting and more responsive downshift for enhanced performance. A custom-built 32-bit electronic controller integrates engine and transmission functions for optimum power and efficiency.

CATS
An automatic system that electronically creates a perfect balance between ride and handling, Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS) continuously adjusts shock absorber settings to provide poised and confident handling over all types of road surfaces.

R Performance Brakes
The R Performance disc brakes utilize composite front calipers to help bring the XJR and Super V8 to a quick and safe stop.

Self-leveling Air Suspension
Every XJ features an enhanced self-leveling air suspension system, which both levels the vehicle regardless of weight loads and position, and automatically lowers the profile at high speeds to increase stability and aerodynamics.
