2003 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX BUILDS ON PERFORMANCE HERITAGE

2003 Pontiac Grand Prix
From its earliest days, the Pontiac Grand Prix has always been about excitement and unsurpassed handling and control. In 2002, Grand Prix celebrated a milestone 40 years of delivering on that promise. And now, with 4 decades of pulse-pounding performance under its belt, the WideTrack Grand Prix is looking to its next 40 years with the same focus on Pontiac Driving Excitement. 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix
Whether cruising a smooth stretch of interstate or a curvy country road, better handling equals more fun. For the 2003 WideTrack Grand Prix, the key to handling and control starts by pushing the wheels wider apart so less weight is transferred in turns and tire loads are more evenly balanced. At the heart of WideTrack handling is a four-wheel independent suspension featuring MacPherson struts with coil springs, lower A-arm, and a 30mm, hollow anti-roll bar in the front. In back, Grand Prix's independent suspension features a tri-link coil over strut design and an 18mm anti-roll bar. The end result is a sportier ride with a solid, balanced feel that can even make a milk run a memorable experience.

Powertrains
The 2003 Grand Prix continues to be powered by a trio of stellar V6 engines. The 3100 V6 engine powers Grand Prix SE models with 175 hp and 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) of torque and is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. (posted on conceptcarz.com) A 3800 V6 producing 200 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque is standard in GT models. Top-of-the-line GTP models are powered by a supercharged 3800 V6 that pumps out 240 hp and 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) of torque.

Safety, comfort and convenience are high priority on the 2003 Grand Prix. Standard equipment for the 2003 Grand Prix includes driver and front-passenger air bags and dual-zone climate control that features manual settings for driver and front passenger, and heating and cooling outlets for the rear seat. Also standard on all Grand Prix models is a center console with integral arm rest and storage compartment, rear reading lamps, assist grips, full overhead console, electronic cruise control, power programmable door locks, a driver information center, remote keyless entry, AM/FM stereo with CD player and rear-seat passthrough. The 2003 models also feature new Victory Red exterior paint.

Added to the standard equipment list on all Grand Prix models is a full overhead console that includes sun visors, illuminated vanity mirrors and assist grab handles. The overhead console is not available on Grand Prix models equipped with the available power sunroof.

For those wishing to transport longer items - such as skis and snowboards - safely and securely inside the vehicle, Grand Prix SE sedan models now offer a rear-seat passthrough standard. Newly standard equipment on SE sedans are rear reading lamps and assist grips.

Grand Prix GT and GTP models offer more versatile option choices in 2003. Both models receive a number of packaging improvements. A trip computer, for example, is now available as a stand-alone option on GT Sedan models; it's standard on GTP Sedan. The added convenience and safety of a head-up display (HÚD) is also now available as a stand-alone option on both GT and GTP models. The HÚD features readouts for speedometer and indicators for turn signals, hi-beam, low fuel, check gauges, radio frequency and disc/track display. As is the case with SE models, a rear passthrough is standard for 2003, and on GT and GTP models includes a trunk storage net, helping secure loose cargo. All Grand Prix coupe models are discontinued for 2003.

Limited Edition package
A new Limited Edition special package is available on 2003 GT and GTP models. It includes a unique spoiler, special wheels (chrome multi-spoke wheel with Limited Edition center cap), blue fog lamps, a monotone lower fascia, unique badges, white gauges, unique seats with door inserts, leather bolsters and cloth inserts with blue stitching. It also features floor mats with embroidered Limited Edition graphics and unique door sill plates. The Limited Edition is available in a white, blue or silver exterior.

Safety features
Every Grand Prix has manual lap/shoulder safety belts for all outboard positions, and manual lap safety belts for center seating positions. Driver and passenger front-impact air bags work in conjunction with the safety belts to protect front seat passengers. Crash-avoidance features on Grand Prix include four-wheel ABS (standard on GTP model), an enhanced traction system on SE and GT models, all-speed traction control on GTP, daytime running lamps with automatic exterior lamp control and tires with built-in tread wear indicators.

Since its inception, Grand Prix has embodied renowned driving characteristics with a full model lineup. The 2003 Grand Prix lineup is testament to this automotive icon and marks the first year of what may well be the start of another milestone.
