1967 Volkswagen Beetle

The 1967 Volkswagen Beetle was the last year of the series introduced in 1957. It was the final year of the round bumpers and metal dashboard, and it was the first to use sealed beam headlights, a 12-volt electrical system, dual circuit drum brakes, and improved suspension. The 91.1 cubic inch displacement engine received a slight boost in power, now producing 53 horsepower from the horizontally opposed, overhead-valve four-cylinder unit. It had a four-speed manual transmission and hydraulic drum brakes in both the front and rear. Pricing began at $1,640. It was available as a two-door sedan with seating for four, a Sunroof sedan, and a Convertible Sedan.

Other changes for 1967 included backup lights, the parking lamps became part of the turn signals, and the glass headlamp covers were no longer installed. The doors were lockable, two-speed windshield wipers were added, and a 12-volt electrical system was installed.

The 1967 150cc Beetle was a one-year-only transition model, manufactured from August 1st, 1966 to July 31st, 1967. It combined the early styling with the more advanced engineering of the later models. It was the final year of the sloping headlights and 6-volt electrical system but has the more potent 1500cc engine, higher ratio gearbox, and front disc brakes.
