1989 Mercedes-Benz 260 Series

The five-speed manual gearbox on the 260 Series was dropped and only a four-speed automatic was available for 1989. The transmission was mated to a six-cylinder overhead cam engine that displaced 2.6 liters and offered nearly 160 horsepower. Most of the other details of the 260E were carried over from the prior year, with one of the larger changes being the addition of an optional passenger airbag. Pricing was just under $40,000.
