2.3-liter, 16-valve DOHC 4-cylinder engine, 155 hp @ 5400 rpm / Torque: 152 ft-lb @ 3000 rpm
This powerful engine gives Aerio a sporty disposition that's attractive as well as functional.
Anti-lock Brake System with Electronic Brake-force Distribution
Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) keeps the brakes from locking in panic stop situations, allowing the driver to maintain control while steering around obstacles. The Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) uses electronic controls to distribute less pressure to the rear brakes during panic braking to prevent rear wheel lock-up.
15' aluminum alloy wheels (SX, Sedan Premium)
Aluminum alloy wheels are not only a stylish addition to the Aerio, but their lighter weight helps conserve fuel over time, and provide a smoother ride. Standard on Aerio SX, Premium on Aerio Sedan.
AM/FM/CD/MP3 player with 6 speakers including 2 tweeters
The premium in-dash CD player also plays CDs with MP3 audio files. Six speakers are standard, including 2 tweeters, for a fuller range of sound.
Steering-wheel-mounted audio controls
Music at your finger tips… Music's good, but music with eyes on the road and hands on the wheel is better.
Air conditioning with automatic climate control and micron air-filtration system
The automatic climate control system maintains the interior temperature at the desired level. The micron air-filtration system screens out dust and pollen to keep the interior comfortable and clean.
Independent MacPherson Strut-type front and rear suspensions
MacPherson struts allow for a tighter turning radius and improve the ride.
Front-seat mounted driver- and passenger-side airbags
Airbags deploy from the outboard side of the driver and front passenger seatbacks to reduce the driver or passenger's risk of injury from side impact collisions.
Keyless remote entry with panic button
Safety and convenience - this standard feature provides added security and confidence with every use.
Power windows/door locks/mirrors
The Aerio is equipped with power windows, door locks, and mirrors….All included as standard equipment.
6-disc in-dash CD/MP3 player with 7 speakers
The premium six-disc in-dash CD player features seven speakers, including dash-mounted tweeters and a subwoofer for fuller range of sound. The CD player is capable of playing CDs with MP3 audio files for hours and hours of music, and of course, the steering-wheel mounted controls comes standard.
Heated power mirrors
Heated power mirrors clear away the condensation or ice on those cold days, a true convenience standard on every Aerio.
Fog lamps
Helping to brighten the road ahead - fog lamps are included in the Aerio Premium package.
Cruise control
Long trips…maintaining your speed…cruise control…Standard!
Optional QuadGrip™ all-wheel-drive system
On wet, snowy, slippery or rough roads, the optional QuadGrip™ is always on the job grabbing the best traction available in all conditions. If the front wheels start to slip, the system automatically transfers power to the rear wheels, up to a maximum 50/50 front/rear power distribution.Source - American Suzuki Motor Company

Introduced for the start of the 2001 model year, the compact Suzuki Aerio replaced the Suzuki Esteem/Baleno. Manufactured by the Suzuki Motor Corporation, the Suzuki Aerio is also known as ‘Liana' in Europe, Australia and South Asia. The Aerio can be placed between lower mid-size segment in the Japanese and European markets and the subcompact segment in the North American market. Featured as either a 5-door hatchback in an SX trim, or as a 4-door sedan in either an S or GS trim. Both models came standard with a manual transmission, though automatic transmission and all wheel drive were both optional features for either model. Throughout the 2003 model year, the very agile Aerio was powered by a 2.0-liter engine that delivered 145 horsepower.
The new vehicle came with a well-known reputation as an inexpensive ride with good gas mileage. Unfortunately, the Suzuki Aerio lacked any truly unique features that made it stand out among the already crowed compact car industry. Though both the hatchback and sedan models were speedy and efficient, they lacked in area of eye-catching design. Considered quite versatile though, the hatchback model did feature an impressive 64 cubic feet of cargo space once the rear seat was folded down.
In 2003 Suzuki released a sportier SUV-like model, the Aerio SX. For the 2004 model year the Aerio received a larger engine. The size was increased to a 2.3 liter that achieved 155 horsepower. The following year the Aerio was completely redesigned and showcased a brand new flashy interior with an all new modified exterior. To add to the functional utility look of the car, a user friendly and readable red glowing gauges replaced the earlier digital instrument panel. A new more convenient storage compartment was also added to the new Suzuki Aerio. The exterior of the car also received a standard rear spoiler that added a more sporty look and feel the vehicle.
For 2005, the Suzuki Aerio was updated further to become a more efficient model.
Only available as a 4-door sedan in base and premium trim levels as of the 2007 model year, the Aerio still features base models that are reasonably equipped. Premium trims featured new heated outside mirrors, a high quality audio system and premium alloy wheels. The 07 model still featured the same impressive 2.3 liter engine. The standard equipment package continued to include a 5-speed manual transmission while the premium trim includes a 4-speed automatic transmission.
Either all wheel drive or front wheel drive versions are available on both trim levels. The interior space was impressive due to the high roof line. Trunk space was also quite roomy with an available 14.6 cubic feet.
Today the Suzuki Aerio model is priced between $13,999 and $16,223.Elizabeth Johnson
