2006 Buick Rainier news, pictures, and information
Rainier's QuietTuning uses special quiet-tread tires, and 26 strategically positioned acoustic absorbers and seals to help prevent exterior noise from reaching the cabin. The result is an uncommonly quiet vehicle.
Incorporating advanced design and technology, Rainier's standard 4200 inline L6 has 24 valves and dual overhead cams that deliver better fuel economy (estimated mpg city/highway 16/21) and power. 291 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque ensure that power remains smooth and consistent over a broad range of engine speeds and driving scenarios.
Rainier's standard chassis stability control system, StabiliTrak, uses data from many sensors to help you stay on your intended course. Yaw sensors, lateral accelerometers, steering wheel angle sensors, and wheel-speed sensors all send their data to the powertrain control module (PCM) and the electronic control module (ECM) computers. These computers are constantly comparing the actual path the vehicle is taking with the path in which the driver is steering. StabiliTrak modulates individual front brakes or reduces power or both to help the driver maintain control and continue on the intended course.
Rainier's standard leather-appointed front bucket seats offer 8-way power seating adjustment. Two-way power lumbar, ergonomically positioned armrests, adjustable head restraints, and multi-setting memory functions also give drivers the flexibility to adjust Rainier's front seating for maximum comfort.
When Rainier is started, a self-check system should indicate that its standard driver and front-passenger dual-stage inflation air bags are working properly. Rainier also offers available head-curtain side-impact air bags for the front and rear passengers.
Always use safety belts and proper child restraints, even with air bags. Children are safer when properly secured in a rear seat. See the Owner's Manual for more safety information.Source - Buick
