2006 BMW 325 Xi Sports Wagon news, pictures, and information

The new BMW 325xi Sports Wagon. With a new, more powerful 3.0 liter 6-cylinder engine, new double-pivot front suspension, and 5-link rear suspension, it offers such incredible performance, it's easy to forget it's a wagon. Until you have cargo to load. That's when the hatch with easy access through the rear glass, split-folding rear seats, and large rear cargo area remind you that you've got the dynamic drive and fuel efficiency of a BMW sedan, plus the utility of a wagon. xDrive All-Wheel Drive and enhanced Dynamic Stability Control Systems add even more utility to the Sports Sedan disguised as a wagon.

Virtually changes this practical touring car into a convertible. Almost two feet longer than a conventional sliding roof, the panoramic roof lets in up to 60% more fresh air.

Start-off Assistant
Keeps the vehicle from rolling backward when stopped facing uphill, and allows for easy, controlled uphill starts.

Check Control
Check Control helps the driver to be aware of the operational readiness of important functions, such as the lighting system and fluid levels. A pictogram display indicates the location of the feature that requires attention. Warnings are shown in the Check Control display at the bottom of the main instrument cluster, and are prioritized according to urgency. On-board computer functions can also be shown in the Check Control display, if desired.

Dynamic Brake Control
Dynamic Brake Control is another important safety feature, crucial in extreme braking situations (such as when avoiding an accident). When it is necessary to build up brake pressure as quickly as possible, Dynamic Brake Control can speed up and reinforce this process, helping to provide the shortest possible stopping distance.

Head Protection System (HPS)
BMW's Head Protection System is an inflatable tubular structure to protect the heads of a vehicle's front and rear seat occupants. Operating in conjunction with the side airbags, the system provides front seat occupants with outstanding protection in the case of severe side impact. It helps protect the head from hitting the side window and being hit by objects penetrating the side window. In recognition of this remarkable protection, BMW was named 'Safe Car of the Millennium' by the International Brain Injury Association.

Run-Flat Tires
No more roadside tire emergencies. These self-supporting tires with integrated reinforcements allow tires that have experienced a loss of air pressure to maintain their shape and full use. They can be driven for up to 150 miles at reduced speeds.

Due to low-profile tires, please note: Wheels, tires, and suspension parts are more susceptible to road hazard and consequential damages.

Service Interval Indicator
Recognizing that each vehicle is used differently - and so the need for routine maintenance is different for each vehicle - BMW developed the Service Interval Indicator. This device continually analyzes the way the BMW is driven, and uses this analysis to determine when it needs servicing - not just based on miles driven. The basic Oil Service includes a change of engine oil and filter, and select other maintenance items. Long-life sparkplugs are designed for a service life of 100,000 miles.
