S-TYPE: Distinctive appearance. Instinctive performance. Legendary provenance.
Referring to the S-TYPE as a mere luxury vehicle misses the point. While the S-TYPE does feature uniquely sensual styling, reflecting its celebrated predecessors of the 1960s, its breathtaking combination of performance, technology, and high-grade interior appointments make an S-TYPE literally impossible to mistake for anything else.
Transportation? Or transformation?
Driving an S-TYPE is not a mere transportation experience. It is more like a transformative one. Where every trip—to the office, to the club, even to the grocery store—becomes a quest to find the most pleasurable route, not just the most direct one.
3.0-liter V6
The standard 235-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 features variable cam phasing and an electronic throttle for optimized acceleration, going from 0-60 mph in a smooth 7.5 seconds.
Variable Valve Timing
To help deliver power across the rpm range, the timing of the intake valve varies continuously, resulting in optimum performance at all times.
4.2-liter V8
The 300-horsepower 4.2-liter V8 engine produces a smooth, linear thrust across a wide range of RPMs, resulting in a 0-60 mph sprint of just 6.2 seconds.
Supercharged V8
The 400-horsepower 4.2-liter supercharged V8, available exclusively on the S-TYPE R, is a perfectly balanced combination of brute force and cutting-edge technology, resulting in a searing 0-60 mph of just 5.3 seconds.
Aluminum Suspension
Long favored by race car engineers, the S-TYPE´s aluminum suspension improves handling agility by reducing unsprung weight—the total weight of components not supported by the suspension´s springs, including control arms, brake components, wheels and tires.
6-speed ZF Transmission
All S-TYPE engines utilize the advanced electronic six-speed ZF automatic transmission, providing drivers wîth seamless downshifts for enhanced performance. A custom-built 32-bit electronic controller integrates engine and transmission functions for optimum power and efficiency.
CATS
Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS) continuously and electronically adjusts the shock absorbers to fine-tune a perfect balance between ride and handling, regardless of terrain encountered.
R Performance Brakes
When you have the ability to accelerate like the supercharged S-TYPE R, you´d better have the stopping power to match. The R-Performance disc brakes, featuring 4-piston calipers, perform the task admirably.Source - Jaguar
