Freedom from convention.
That's the unique attitude embodied by the Element. And it turns out, not trying to fit in has made Element the accomplice for almost any quest. So get out there, live and play on your own terms, if that's your thing. Load it up for your next big adventure, and you'll quickly notice it's huge on utility. With a tall, cavernous cargo hold and removable, flip-up rear seats, you can haul all the gear, tools, supplies and equipment you need for whatever you're into that day, or that week. If you're always feeling hungry for what's next, the Element provides the versatility you need to get out and be free.

For three decades, Honda has played a leading role in meeting the environmental challenge. Our approach has always focused on those vehicle and fuel options we believe have the greatest real-world potential. The goal is not engineering prizes or newspaper headlines. The goal is to make environmentally friendlier products that our customers want to buy because the products are easy to own and fun to drive.

The Element: More Evolution, Less Pollution
The Element is all about doing your thing—be that mountain biking, surfing, or professional loafing. We're willing to bet that helping to keep the air clean and the skies blue just might be on your 'thing' list, too.

That's why all Element models feature Honda i-VTEC® technology for reduced emissions and higher fuel economy. Gear ratios in the 4-speed automatic transmission also do their part: They are optimized to balance driving performance, fuel economy, and low emissions. Also, an 'active,' flat locking torque converter keeps it light and helps save gas.

These versatile machines earned a low-emission vehicle rating (LEV-2) from the California Air Resources Board (CARB). And two thumbs up from their equally evolved owners.

The 2.4-liter i-VTEC engine in the Element has advanced features like an aluminum-alloy block and head. And it pumps out 156 horses, enough guts to take you just about any place you need to be. When you literally need to haul, you can count on a 1,500-lb. towing capacity. The Element also qualifies as a Low-Emission Vehicle (LEV-2). But maybe the best thing about what the Element has under its hood is that you hardly ever have to think about it. You can go for 110,000 miles before the first time you tune up. The advanced 16-valve DOHC engine design provides the best of all worlds. Power whenever you need it. Twin balance shafts for smooth, quiet running. And legendary Honda fuel efficiency.

Through a comprehensive and evolving approach to safety, Honda seeks to provide a high level of occupant and pedestrian protection in our cars and trucks, regardless of size or price, as well as increased crash compatibility with other vehicles. The NHTSA awarded the Element five stars in frontal crash-test ratings*—the best possible for frontal impacts. But then, safety is always a priority in the minds of Honda engineers. The Element has strong vertical beams that are formed when the stoutly reinforced side cargo doors are closed, and connect with the reinforced frame, side sills and roof. It all adds up to a seriously tough passenger compartment.
