The Jaguar MKI, having been introduced in October of 1955, was a brilliant automobile that satisfied the American market demands. It had a 2.4-liter engine that was later enlarged to 3.4-liters in 1957. They were great cars but did have their shortcomings, often criticized as being 'clumsy.' The Mark II Saloon, along with the S-Type, resolved these issued. It was introduced at the London Motor Show at Earls Court in October of 1959. It was based on the Mark I, but improved both aesthetically and mechanically. The overall weight was reduced and the interior was completely redesigned. Leather seats were standard until 1967 when Jaguar offered it as optional in an effort to reduce the cost of the vehicle. Three engine sizes were offered including the new 3.8-liter version of the XK engine rated at 220 horsepower.

This Mark II Saloon is painted in Opalescent Silver Blue and was delivered and purchased new in Beverly Hills, California, and owned by one family until 2006. The odometer reads a mere 30,833 miles. Inside, there is blue leather upholstery and marbled wood grain o the dash and doors. It came from the factory equipped with power steering, power disc brakes, and factory air conditioning. There is a four-speed all synchromesh gearbox with overdrive and four-wheel power disc brakes.

In 2009, this MKII Saloon was offered for sale at the Houston Classic Auction in Seabrook, Texas presented by Worldwide Auctioneers. The lot was estimated to sell for $40,000 - $50,000. It was purchased by a phone bidder for the sum of $37,000, plus buyer's premium.

Sedan
Chassis Num: EO67672

This Jaguar Mark 2, chassis number EO67672 is a last year car. Sir William Lyons' magnificent Mark 2, in 2.4, 3.4 and 3.8 liter capacities, was the brilliant successor of the 2.4 and 3.4 (Mark 1) medium size 4-door, sporting sedans all of which gave great pleasure to racers, cops (and robbers) and the upper middle class in the 'fashionable sixties' with nearly 84,000 Mark 2s made in eight years' of production. The steel monocoque housed the iconic XK twin-cam, straight six engine and either a 4-speed or automatic, with a maximum quoted output of 220 horsepower for the 3.8 (which could reach 125 mph).
The Jaguar Mark II was introduced in October 1959 and continued in production until 1967. The MKII was built as a replacement for the 2.4 and 3.4 liter saloon, also known as the MKI.
The MK II was based on the MKI, but the result was different in many ways, both aesthetically and mechanically. Improvements to the design and modern materials resulted in a reduced overall weight. The interior was completely redesigned but retained its luxury and elegance with such amenities as leather and wood veneer. The attention to detail both inside and out, only amplified the ambiance of sophistication. Leather seats continued to be standard until 1967 when Jaguar offered it as optional in an effort to reduce the cost of the vehicle.

Under the hood was an XK engine, the same that had won at LeMans in 1951 and 1953. The XK engine was now enlarged to 3.8 liters producing around 220 horsepower. The engine continued to prove itself as a reliable and capable power plant.
