Glamorous and Rare Mercedes-Benz at Russo and Steele Newport Beach!Scottsdale, Arizona (March 26, 2015) – Today, few classic cars are as sophisticated as the W111-generation Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet. Rare and highly refined, these athletic and luxurious five-passenger automobiles continued the enviable Mercedes-Benz tradition of handcrafted quality, vault-like solidity and superior engineering, wrapped in formal Paul Bracq-penned bodylines that remain a design tour de force. Powered by the company's landmark 3.5-liter V-8 engine providing turbine-like smoothness and developing 230 bhp, the 280SE 3.5 delivered brisk performance in concert with a four-speed automatic gearbox, all-independent suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes. Top-quality leather upholstery, beautiful veneered wooden trim, and useful instrumentation enhanced the outstanding experience. Production ended in 1971 with just 1,232 280SE 3.5 Cabriolets built in all.

Striking in 'triple blue,' the 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet we are proud to offer at Newport Beach in June is without doubt one of the finest examples of this landmark Mercedes-Benz model. Clearly benefiting from 25 years of prior single-family ownership, it features air conditioning, and a period radio, plus manuals, tools, and a canvas tool roll. A freshly detailed engine bay completes this Cabriolet's outstanding presentation. As offered, this glamorous and very rare 280SE Cabriolet carries guaranteed collectability, undeniable presence, and enduring value as one of the final limited-production, mostly hand-built Mercedes-Benz automobiles built.
