1959 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88

Oldsmobile began a new styling cycle for 1959, known as the new-for-1959 Linear Look in all three series, even though a major styling had occurred for 1958. The design added nearly 40-percent greater total glass area and increased the passenger room and available luggage space across the model line. Body styles on the Dynamic Eight-Eight Series included a coupe, 2- and 4-door Holiday hardtop, convertible, sedan, and station wagon. The Holiday Sport Sedan had a pillarless design with a full wraparound rear window, and a unique, fleet roofline.

The 371 cubic-inch engine received a 5 horsepower boost in power, now rated at 270 hp, then its 1958 sibling, with the same 390 foot-pounds of torque. Standard equipment included turn signals, Safety spectrum speedometer, cloth and morocceen combination interiors, 8.50x14 inch tires, an oil filter, and air scoop brakes. Other items included courtesy lamps, clock, an AM pushbutton radio with rear speaker, and dual side-view mirrors. Prices ranged from $2,840 for the coupe and rose to over $4,600 for the station wagon. The sedan accounted for 70,995 while the 4-door Holiday Hardtop found 48,707 willing buyers. The 2-door version was also popular, with 38,488 sales. Combined, the Oldsmobile Dynamic Eighty-Eight accounted for slightly more than 50-percent of Oldsmobile's total sales.

Power steering, power brakes, a six-way power seat, deluxe radio, power windows, and air conditioning were a few of the options.
