The car was some times compared to a Rolls Royce but with a cheaper price tag. In 1903, the Minerva Motors Company was formed by a Belgian named Sylvain de Jong. Production lasted until 1936 when the company was forced into bankruptcy, like so many other manufacturers of the time.
