2007 CADILLAC DTS: EXPANDING CADILLAC'S LEGACY FOR EXPRESSIVE, LUXURIOUS SEDANS

A longtime symbol of Cadillac luxury, the DTS full-size luxury sedan is a product of unwavering attention to detail, from its signature exterior styling and luxurious interior to its powerful, refined ride and handling.

The redesigned and renamed DTS debuted last year, continuing the legacy of the DeVille, its former iteration, which commanded nearly 50 percent of sales in its §egmènt for nearly two decades.

For 2007, Cadillac refines DTS by adding more standard equipment, revising its interior and exterior color palette.

For 2007, chrome wheels – wîth new center caps now featuring the wreath & crest rendered in color – are standard on all models. Popular options such as XM Satellite Radio, cargo mat and rear sunshades – previously available on top-of-the-line packages, are now expanded to become included on more of DTS's several packages.

In terms of exterior finishes, Mystic Gray replaces Blue Ice, Gold Mist replaces Light Cashmere, White Diamond replaces White Lightening (midyear), Cognac Frost replaces Glacier White (midyear) and MaryKay V replaces MaryKay IV.

Inside, the very dark Cashmere interior accent and aniline leather are replaced wîth a Cocoa hue. The center stack color changes from Ebony Mica to Dark Argent metallic.

In addition, the DTS receives a distinct Cadillac keyfob that will begin appearing across many Cadillac models in 2007, wîth a more refined appearance in a more compact package. The DVD navigation system adds maps for Korea and Taiwan , and Arabic replaces Italian on the driver information center. The analog clock on the instrument panel has also been revised for better readability.

Design

Cadillac has applied its contemporary design vocabulary to the DTS, bringing the look in line wîth the rest of the marque's portfolio.

At first glance, DTS strongly reflects the appeal of Cadillac's trademark design wîth vertically shaped headlamps and tail lamps, and egg-crate grille. The result is a more architectural, linear exterior style than its predecessor and a look that separates it from the competition.

The sophisticated, luxurious interior incorporates a clean, sculpted contemporary design featuring genuine materials, fabrics and low-gloss, tactile surfaces.

Dual-firmness seats are engineered for comfort and support wîth an additional 25 mm (approximately 1 inch) of seat travel; available real burl wood garnish; a lowered and more forward-positioned instrument panel for increased spaciousness; a new analog clock; soft-backed, cast-urethane surfaces on the instrument panel and upper doors; and an integrated center stack design for a clean, uninterrupted appearance.

Powertrain

The DTS is equipped wîth the technologically advanced Northstar 4.6L V-8 engine and mated to the Hydra-Matic 4T80 four-speed automatic transmission – a proven combination that assures powerful, sophisticated performance.

The Northstar 4.6L V-8 engine is available in two configurations: the 292-horsepower (205kW) L37 and the 275-horsepower (218kW) LD8*. The L37 version is a responsive, higher revving powerplant wîth more peak horsepower. The LD8 puts more emphasis on quick launch and part-throttle response wîth greater peak torque.

Chassis refinements

Greatly upgraded for the 2006 model, the DTS chassis combines performance and luxury capabilities to a degree never before reached on a full-size Cadillac sedan. (concept carz) Chassis tuning achieves a smooth, quiet, refined ride. The DTS features a front cradle design, wîth the engine mounted to the cradle, and the cradle mounted to the body rails.

A number of integrated chassis control technologies include four-channel anti-lock brakes and traction control, four-channel StabiliTrak wîth Brake Assist, and Magnetic Ride Control. Magnetic Ride, pioneered on Cadillac STS and XLR, is the world's fastest reacting suspension, controlling body motions to a precise degree. The DTS also employs larger 17- or 18-inch wheels and tires, as well as larger 323-mm brakes for enhanced stopping power.

Convenience and safety technologies

Comfort, convenience and safety offerings are plentiful and include heated and cooled front seats; heated rear seats; heated §teering wheel; standard tri-zone climate control; factory-installed Adaptive Remote Start wîth personalization; heated windshield washer fluid; rain-sensing wipers; power folding outside rearview mirrors; front and rear ultrasonic park assist; IntelliBeam automatic high-beam headlamps; in-dash six-CD changer and MP3 player; standard dual-stage (driver) and dual-depth (front passenger) air bags, roof-rail curtain air bags, and front seat side-impact thorax air bags; GM Passenger Sensing System; radar-based adaptive cruise control (ACC) wîth audible and visual alerts; OnStar; XM Satellite Radio; and DVD navigation system.

For 2007, OnStar-equipped DTS models will feature a new service called OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation, the first factory-installed, fully integrated GPS navigation system from OnStar. Turn-by-Turn allows consumers to talk to a live advisor, who in turn sends complete step-by-step directions to customers' vehicles through their OnStar system. These audio directions automatically play through the vehicle's stereo as needed, triggered by the OnStar system's GPS capabilities. This enables drivers to be led to their destination while keeping their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. For more information about OnStar, see the OnStar Overview in the Product Information Guide Corporate Book

XM Satellite Radio provides more than 120 coast-to-coast, digital-quality channels of original commercial-free music and premier news, sports and talk as well as advanced traffic and weather information for select major metropolitan areas nationwide. Consumers can subscribe to the basic service for $12.99 a month. In addition, GM customers wîth GMAC financing can choose to include the XM subscription in their car payments.

Engineers developed and adhered to hundreds of criteria points when developing the DTS, and the result is outstanding fit, finish and overall harmony of the elements.

Fit, flushness and gaps are on a par wîth the best executions in the world. Interior gaps are 5 millimeters or less, wîth the vast majority less than 2 mm. The exterior of the DTS has extremely tight surface-to-surface relationships, making it appear as if it were crafted from a single piece of billet steel. Such refinement is evidenced in hood to fascia gaps that are a mere 4 mm, fender-to-headlamp relationships of less than 1 mm, hood-to-fender relationships within 1 mm, and taillamp-to-decklid relationships of less than 2 mm.

Safety refinements

Designed and engineered wîth occupant safety and protection in mind, the DTS reinforces Cadillac's long-standing reputation for safe occupant environments in premium vehicles.

The DTS is equipped wîth a host of safety and security features, beginning wîth its body frame integral (BFI) construction; strategically engineered crumple zones in front and rear; and comprehensive use of high-strength steel. The vehicle's crashworthiness is enhanced wîth structural foam and nylon structural inserts strategically placed in areas of the vehicle's structure.

The DTS has six standard air bags, including an -first dual depth front passenger air bag. The GM co-patented technology deploys either a small or large air bag depending upon crash severity, seat belt usage and seat position.

The DTS is manufactured at GM's award-winning Detroit Hamtramck assembly center. Detroit-Hamtramck is recognized as the 2005 J.D. Power and Associates Bronze Award plant in North America and is a top 10 performer in initial quality worldwide.
