The Mercury Milan has helped bring new energy and new customers to the Mercury showroom with its style and strong value. For 2007, the Milan builds on its compelling value story by making anti-lock brakes and the safety and security package standard on all models. This package includes side-impact air bags for the driver and front passenger, side curtain air bags for first and second rows, and an anti-theft perimeter alarm system. Traction control is also now standard on V-6 models.
Later in the year, Milan will get several other updates. Most significant, Milan will offer enhanced driver confidence with an available all-wheel-drive system that improves handling and optimizes traction on slick surfaces.
Other changes include a standard auxiliary audio input jack for all models. Milan also will offer two new options shortly after the 2007 model year launches: a DVD-based navigation system and SIRIUS satellite radio.
The Milan appeals to new, younger customers while reflecting Mercury's identity: sophisticated design, stylish and functional interiors, and rewarding, city-tuned driving traits. The bright chrome belt line visually stretches the car to highlight its length.
The bodysides are clean and chiseled, allowing the car's length and its large and uniquely designed wheels to establish a strong visual profile. In rear view, Milan features standard light-emitting diode (LED) taillamps that send a clear signal of the car's technical precision. The system also helps eliminate torque steer and helps balance the vehicle when cornering.
Milan rides on a sophisticated short- and long-arm front suspension that features double ball-joint lower control arms and coil-over shocks. The multilink rear suspension performs like a double-wishbone setup. These sophisticated designs limit lateral forces on springs for increased ride comfort and control to help absorb road imperfections such as potholes.
At all four corners, Milan is equipped with large disc brakes tuned for precise stops in everyday or emergency situations. Four-wheel power disc brakes are standard. The system includes a four-sensor, four-channel anti-lock brake system with electronic brake force distribution.
The standard four-cylinder engine delivers 160 horsepower and can be paired with a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic. The Duratec 23 I-4 equipped with an automatic transmission meets Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) status in California. It is the Mercury brand's second PZEV application, along with the Mariner Hybrid.
Equipped with the five-speed manual, the standard Duratec 23 returns 23 miles per gallon in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.
For even more power, there's the 221-horsepower, 3.0-liter V-6, which is paired with an advanced six-speed automatic transaxle. Milan was a trailblazer in the use of such a sophisticated automatic in its class. This six-speed automatic delivers impressive performance as well as 20 mpg city, 28 mpg highway.
