This car has a 80 horsepower, six-cylinder engine by Pierce-Arrow, balloon tires, Pierce-Arrow four-wheel safety brakes, and Houdaille shock absorbers. This car is very rare because it is a five-passenger two-door Club Brougham. The Pierce-Arrow Society registers only seven of these body styles. The original selling price was $3,995.

'To gain new customers, luxury automaker Pierce-Arrow built a smaller, less expensive six-cylinder 1925 series called the Model 80. About 16,000 of these cars were produced before the company introduced the similar but revised Model 81 for 1928. The Model 80 received a new side-valve engine. Characteristics include a straight windshield, vertical hood louvers and a triple-lamp taillight. In addition to the factory bodies, custom bodies were also available from Brunn, LeBaron, Judkins, and other coachbuilders. This car was built in Buffalo, NY and has all the original parts. This car was restored by the owner during a four-year period to the original color and appointments. It has won a first place at the CCCA's Florida Grand Classic, with a score of 99 points.

This 1927 Pierce-Arrow Model 80 Rumbleseat Roadster was offered for sale at the Vintage Motor Cars sale at Hershey, PA presented by RM Auctions. It was estimated to sell for $55,000 - $75,000 and offered without reserve. The lot was sold for a high bid of $55,000.

The car is fresh from a thorough cosmetic restoration, completed in mid 2007. It is painted in blue with black fenders. The color is accented with tobacco colored pin stripes. it is powered by a six-cylinder engine that displaces 288.5 cubic-inches and produces 70 horsepower. There is a four-speed manual transmission and four-wheel vacuum-powered brakes. The 130-inch wheelbase rest on solid axles with leaf springs.

This is a stylish and well maintained Pierce-Arrow that could easily be shown at many events throughout the US or be taken on one of the many exclusive driving tours.

The Pierce-Arrow Company has a history that dates back to the dawn of the motor car and quickly evolved into one of the top producers of luxury and sophisticated automobiles. They worked closed with their Buffalo, New York neighbor Aluminum Company of America to perfect casting techniques that produced cast aluminum body panels as thin as 1/8 inch. The result was a strong material that was very lightweight.

The design of the Pierce-Arrows was performed in-house by the talented Herbert Dawley. He patented the design where the headlights faired into the tops of the front fenders, a feature that would become a hallmark for the Pierce-Arrow Company.

Through craftsmanship, style, and innovation, the Pierce-Arrow Company continued to lead the industry for many years. That all changed by the late 1920s as Pierce-Arrow were being outpaced by their competition. By this time, more modern production methods were making it easier for other marque's to provide a product at a cost that was difficult for Pierce-Arrow to compete. Within a few years, the Pierce-Arrow re-solidified itself as a prominent company through new engineering advances, broad model lineup, and marketing techniques.

The Model 80 was first shown in 1924 and by 1927 it was offered with four-wheel vacuum-powered brakes. The fuel gauge was located on the gas tank while the temperature gauge was mounted on the dashboard.

Production of the Model 80 lasted until 1927. It was an entry-level vehicle aimed at attracting a wide audience of buyers who could afford this milder priced vehicle. It was priced between $2,400 to $4,000 less than the larger and more stately Series 36. It was a car that was not intended to be chauffeur driven. By 1926 sales had risen to 7,500 units for the Series 80. However, the following year sales declined dramatically and the Series 80 was dropped.
