1928 Franziss Special news, pictures, and information

This is a Franziss Special believed to be powered by a Curtiss OX aero engine and a Frazer-Nash derived chassis. It has been built by its owner, Roger Sweet. The name, 'Franziss' was derived from combining the name 'Frazer' and the name 'Nash'.

The OX-5 was the first mass-produced aircraft engine in the United States. It became available in 1915 and used in various capacities through the first World War. The engine was a water-cooled, 503 cubic-inch (9-liter) unit weighing 390 pounds and was capable of producing 90 horsepower. It has a distinct feature - its rockers are exposed allowing for the components to be observed while the engine is running.

This is a unique, one of a kind creation. Not many cars have been fitted with an airplane engine. It has been shown at historic events and has taken part in vintage races.
