This car is based on the BMW 318ti compact and after the AC Schnitzer treatment the 3.2 litre engine gives 260 bhp/191 kw and a maximum torque of 330 nm at 4400 rpm. In issue no. 14/1997, the magazine 'auto motor und sport' gave it the following review: 'The smooth power delivery is the dominant feature of the AC Schnitzer S3 3.2. The engine responds swiftly to gas even from idle, revs smoothly up in every one of the five gears and easily gives the 1367 kg compact a performance which would do credit to any sports car.' All auxiliary equipment has been modified to suit the increased engine power: the five-speed box is taken from the Z3 M-roadster and fitted wîth the sports gear shift, 'Short Shift'. The standard rear differential is replaced by a stronger, longer ratio unit wîth 25% limited slip, and the standard braking system has given way to a high performance system. The standard suspension has also been changed for the AC Schnitzer sports suspension - previously subjected to severe road and race track tests - and set for a sporting but comfortable ride. The suspension modifications also include the single-part, black-painted Type II alloy wheels size 8.5J x 18' all round. Michelin MXX 3 Pilots size 225/40 ZR 18 on the front transmit the §teering forces efficiently, while at the rear the 255/35 ZR 18s put down the power. To improve driving stability in particular at high speeds, the Jubilee compact is fitted wîth a specially designed front skirt wîth large brake air ducts, a three-part rear spoiler and a rear roof spoiler. The overall sporting image is completed by the elegant side skirts and sports mirrors. AC Schnitzer design stripes in red on the body and wheels, and the '10 Years Limited Edition' logo identify the Jubilee model from the outside. In the interior too, the AC Schnitzer S3 3.2 compact '10 Years Limited Edition' stands out thanks to its pleasing contrasts and functionality: ergonomically correct sports seats, airbag sports §teering wheel, carbon-fibre cockpit components and leather trim wîth the sporting yet elegant AC Schnitzer needle-stripe design wîth red stitching. The aluminium components give the finishing touch to the interior: gear knob, pedals, foot rest, hand brake lever and name plate wîth the serial number of the special model are the identifying features of this Jubilee model.Source - AC Schnitzer Media
