DESIGN

Dodge adds subtle improvements to the interior of the 2008 Dodge Charger for even more driver and passenger comfort. These changes include soft-touch surfaces on the arm rests, center console and door trim, and a newly designed instrument panel. Satin chrome bezels and instrument panel accents add interest to the sophisticated, functional Charger interior.

The center console of the 2008 Dodge Charger also has been redesigned and now features satin chrome accents and optional LED lighting in the front cup holders. LED lighting also is available in the front and rear door map pockets.

ENGINEERING
Modern technologies have made it possible to bring a 21st century muscle car to market wîth the ride and handling characteristics inherent in rear-wheel drive. The 2008 Dodge Charger rear-wheel-drive models feature outstanding performance and handling, near 50-50 weight distribution and unique suspensions that provide just the right level of driving characteristics for all Charger customers.

Three engine offerings — including the fuel-efficient 2.7-liter V-6 engine, the 250 horsepower 3.5-liter High Output V-6 and the famed 5.7-liter HEMI engine wîth Multi-displacement System (MDS) — provide Dodge Charger customers what they desire in all instances. MDS seamlessly alternates between four cylinder mode when less power is needed and V-8 mode when more power is demanded, increasing fuel economy as much as 20 percent. New for 2008 is a 'Fuel Saver Mode' display, included as part of the optional EVIC that tells drivers when they are in four-cylinder mode, allowing them to modify their driving habits for improved fuel efficiency.

By driving continuously through all four wheels, the 2008 Dodge Charger wîth all-wheel drive and standard Electronic Stability Program (ESP), all-speed Traction Control System and four-wheel Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), offers outstanding performance and stability under all traction conditions.

The popular Road/Track Performance package, which offers P245/45R20 all-season performance tires and 20-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels, continues in 2008. MyGIG
MyGIG is a completely integrated Harman/Kardon audio, navigation, entertainment and hands-free communication system, and is available on the 2008 Dodge Charger SXT and R/T models. Operation of its many features is controlled through voice commands or a touch screen. The system gives Dodge Charger owners the ability to download photos and music to a 20-gigabyte hard drive from a CD or ÚSB memory device.

Available through SIRIÚS Satellite Radio, MyGIG wîth optional navigation system supports real-time traffic and can even provide re-route navigation based on current traffic patterns. MyGIG's voice dialogue system recognizes more than 100,000 words and is capable of learning and growing. The navigation has both 2-D and 3-D bird's-eye views of roads and multiple route calculation. Maps and guidance are displayed on a motorized, flip-down 6.5-inch thin-film-transistor (TFT) display. The TFT screen uses active matrix for viewing from angles up to 180 degrees — perfect for the center of an instrument panel.

Music Jukebox
Chrysler LLC is the first automaker in North America to offer an integrated music jukebox, supported by Gracenote™ music-file management, which automatically adds song, artist and album information to the music files. In addition to the navigation software and mapping, the hard drive can hold approximately 1,600 songs, which equals more than 100 hours of music. There also is a voice-memo recorder feature, which allows a message up to 3 minutes long to be recorded using the microphone integrated into the rearview mirror.

Audio Sound
In addition to the standard four-speaker system, an optional six-speaker system or Boston Acoustics 276-watt amplified six-speaker system is available. The Sound Group II package, available on the 2008 Dodge Charger R/T, offers a 5.1 Matrix Surround Sound amplifier wîth subwoofer for exceptional sound.

Rear-seat DVD Video Entertainment System
The rear-seat VES is cleverly packaged in the center console armrest cover and is easily accessible to rear-seat passengers. The system includes a DVD player and 7-inch LCD screen, a remote control and two wireless headsets. The hinged LCD screen can be fully stored into the console armrest cover or flipped up for viewing. Auxiliary plug-in jacks are included on the faceplate so that rear-seat passengers can view video directly from a video camera, play games from a video game console, play music directly from a portable MP3 player or, new for 2008, enjoy SIRIÚS Backseat TV.

SIRIÚS Backseat TV
Chrysler will be the first and only auto manufacturer to offer SIRIÚS Backseat TV in its vehicle lineup in the 2008 model year, including the 2008 Dodge Charger.

SIRIÚS Backseat TV features three channels of respected children's TV featuring many of the most well-known kids' programming, including Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and Cartoon Network. Rear-seat passengers will be able to watch shows such as Nickelodeon's 'SpongeBob SquarePants,' Disney Channel's 'Hannah Montana,' and Cartoon Network's 'Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.'

SIRIÚS Backseat TV operates via an in-vehicle satellite video receiver and two small roof-mounted antennas. Programming is displayed on the vehicle's back-seat video screen, and channel name, program title and rating will be broadcast and displayed on the screen. For added flexibility, rear-seat passengers can enjoy SIRIÚS Backseat TV while front-seat occupants listen to SIRIÚS Satellite Radio. The system can be operated from either the rear-seat entertainment unit or the radio head unit. In addition, when the vehicle is in Park, programming can be displayed on the MyGIG screen for front-seat viewing.
