2008 Lamborghini Gallardo news, pictures, and information
Originally launched in 2003, the Lamborghini Gallardo Coupé 2006 model year benefits from increased engine power of 520 hp and lower ratio gears, reaching a top speed of 196mph and accelerating from 0 to 62mph in 4.0 seconds.
Equipment levels have also been enhanced and include such items as the new Lamborghini Multimedia System (CD-changer, MP3 player and radio) and new interior trim colours. There are also three new exterior colours to choose from: Verde Faunus (green), Blu Fontus (blue) and Grigio Proteus (grey). There is a new range of optional equipment for the Gallardo MY 06, including the rear video camera and a TV-tuner. Other options include new Callisto wheels and a sports set-up, with racing steering wheel, steering and suspension. The six speed manual gearbox can be replaced by the optional e-gear, Lamborghini's own sequential gear shifting system with paddles mounted on the steering wheel.
There is also a range of customised options for the Gallardo MY 06 under the Privilege Programme, giving customers the opportunity to acquire an even more exclusive car.
Designed to ?redefine its segment as the best high performance car', the Lamborghini Gallardo is a sports car to be used every day; as suitable for driving on race tracks as it is on long distance journeys and city roads.
Using aluminium space frame technology developed by parent company Audi, the ?dry' weight of the car is just 1430kg despite its permanent four-wheel drive. The engine is mid-rear mounted, with particular attention paid to achieving correct weight distribution: 42% front, 58% rear.
The Gallardo is undoubtedly a Lamborghini, whilst asserting its individuality: designed with an evident purism, athleticism and sharpness, its long wheelbase with short overhangs gives it its dynamic appearance.
