1957 Kuzma Greenman-Casale Special

1957 Kuzma Greenman-Casale Special 1957 Kuzma Greenman-Casale Special 1957 Kuzma Greenman-Casale Special Built in 1957, the Greenman-Casale Special was the only one of its kind crafted by Andy Casale. Lysle Greenman was an automobile dealer in Los Angeles, where he owned a Dodge Dealership. Any Casale was the chief mechanic and sponsor for the Dodge Dealership, where he provided the steering boxes for many of the Indy cars as well as the quick-change rear ends. The company is still in operation today.

The car features a Kuzma chassis with an Offenhauser 270 cu.in 450 hp engine supporting a top speed of 180 mph and averaging 139 mph during the Indy in 1957. In the 1950s the Greenman-Casale Special was the first Indy car to feature the flames design on the body due to Greenman's fascination with the hot rod trend.

The Greenman-Casale was run for the first time in 1957 at the Indianapolis 500; where it was entered seven times. Qualifying four times: 1957 (driven by: Johnny Tolan), 1958 & 1959 (driven by : Bill Cheesbourgh). and in 1961 (driven by: Demsy Wilson).

One of the interesting historic details of this car is the story behind the 'CG' insignia on the front bumper. When the car was being built, mechanic Andy Caale, had a dispute with then-owner: Lysle Greenman, and subsequently inscribed the bumper with a 'CG' rather than a 'GC.' The marking remains on the bumper today.
