The Mugen Honda Civic Type-RR Experimental Spec was unveiled at the 2008 Tokyo Auto Salon. Mounted under its lightweight aluminum hood is a 2.2-liter, Type K20A engine that produces 260 horsepower and 173 foot-pounds of torque. To cope with the additional power, the Civic Type-RR braking and suspension system have been upgraded.
It comes equipped with Mugen's new The Mugen Honda Civic Type-RR Experimental Spec was unveiled at the 2008 Tokyo Auto Salon. There is a six-speed sequential gearbox allowing the driver to shift at only 80 milliseconds.
The interior is fitted with new carbon-fiber front bar, dash mounted instrument cluster and a pair of bucket seats.
This is a study in weight reduction and in increase in power; the aluminum hood saved 4.6 kg and the new titanium exhaust system saved 7.6 kg.
The car remains a show-car and an Experiment, though it is believed that several of the cars components will make it to the Japanese domestic market.
