The Fiat Cinquecento was produced from 1991 to 1998 and designed to replace the Fiat 126. The car was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Ital Design. When production ended in 1998, it was replaced by the Seicento.
The Cinquecento was a 3-door hatchback with a front-engine placement and front wheel drive. It was initially available with two engine choices, with the 1.1-liter FIRE (also known as 'sporting' joining the lineup later. Two of the engines were fitted transversely, while the 704cc engine was mounted longitudinally. The 704cc overhead valve two-cylinder engine offered 31 horsepower. The overhead four-cylinder unit produced nearly 40 horsepower and the FIRE single overhead came 1108cc unit produced 53 horsepower.
