Società Italiana Applicazioni Techniche Auto-Aviatorie was founded in 1926 by Fiat tuning specialist Giorgio Ambrosini, and received substantial financial assistance from Fiat. The Mario Revelli de Beaumont penned and Bertone built 300BC was introduced at the Geneva Salon in 1952 and approximately 50 examples of the 300BC Sport Spider were eventually built. Roughly the first 40 examples were built by Bertone, while the (approximately) last 10 were built by Turin based Motto.

The 300 BC Barchetta Sport Spider used a Fiat suspension and powered by a Crosley 750 cubic-inch or 1100cc Fiat-derived engines, though some were imported to the United States without drivetrains. Most were built for competition rather than normal road use, so they were often fitted with large, finned, Stanguellini brakes.
