In 1964, Bob McKee built this one-off race car for Dick Doane, a Chevrolet driver and dealership owner. McKee used Chevrolet parts whenever possible, thus coming up with the name Chevette.

At its first race in 1964, the Chevrolet placed remarkably well-coming in third behind Jim Hall and Roger Penske. Just as many cars of the same era, the Chevette quickly became outdated at the USRRC made way for the Can-Am Series.

The Chevette was modified in 1970 by fitting this closed cockpit Lola T70 MK3B endurance racer's body to the original tubular space frame chassis and drive train of the McKee's MK1 Chevette. It is powered by a small block Chevrolet and uses a Ford differential, Chevrolet T-10 gears and Halibrand quick change gears. In its 15-consecutive years of racing, this vintage race car has a long and interesting history-the current owner plans to keep its legacy alive by entering it into vintage racing events.
