2009 Peugeot 607 news, pictures, and information
The Peugeot 607 introduces twin turbo technology
Since its launch, the 607's appeal has been its elegant style with its bold curves and its technological sophistication, especially the standard fitment of the diesel Particulate Filter System (DPFS), a world first.*The timeless quality of the car's visual design and its capacity for continuous improvement: motorised boot, rear side air bags, 'Bluetooth' hands-free kit, 'anti-dazzle' exterior door mirrors featuring electro-chrome technology, 6-speed manual gearbox combined with the 2.2 litre HDi DPFS engine (136 bhp) and, eighteen months ago, the 2.7 litre V6 HDi DPFS engine developing 204 bhp, combined with a 6-speed automatic auto-adaptive gearbox with 'Tiptronic system Porsche' sequential control.
Today, the 607 range continues to expand and enhance its appeal by the introduction of a new engine, also recently made available on the 407: a twin-turbo 2.2 litre HDi DPFS engine developing 170 bhp which is the fourth engine developed through the cooperation between PSA Peugeot Citroën and the Ford Motor Company.
The use of parallel sequential twin-turbo technology is a world first on a four-cylinder diesel engine and offers excellent driveability thanks in particular to the exceptional engine torque available.
The fitment of this modern, high-performance, economical and environmentallyfriendly engine should allow the 607 to strengthen its place in a highly competitive market segment.Source - Peugeot
Peugeot 607:ever more driving pleasure
Three years after its commercial launch, the 607, the world's first diesel car equipped with a particulate emission filter, has just passed the 100,000 mark in terms of the number of vehicles sold, claiming the title of Europe's most widely distributed general saloon in segment H.This success, particularly in France, in a market segment where brand awareness and status are not insignificant factors in the decision to purchase, tends to justify the choices made by Peugeot in the design of the 607.
Firstly the choice of aesthetic pleasure: the reputation of the 607 owes its balance to a combination of subtly audacious lines and the lack of any ostentation. This elegance is echoed inside the vehicle: an understated, peaceful and harmonious atmosphere, purity of lines, volumes and materials that give pleasure to the senses
and appeal to the emotions.
Next, the choice of dynamic pleasure: the 607 offers the driving pleasure so distinctive of Peugeot cars. Its highly advanced electronic suspension, including a damping system with nine settings for V6 versions, is combined with a rigid structure and variable power steering according to engine speed or vehicle speed.
Until today, the 607 was only available with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a Porsche Tiptronic automatic gearbox with sequential control.Source - Peugeot
