Thanks to the patented construction of TwinDoor the Škoda Superb combines the practical advantages of a liftback wîth the elegance of a sedan. (concept carz) An individual approach to design has made the Superb a fascinating vehicle. The spaciousness of the interior and the materials used increase the extraordinary level of comfort during a trip.The Superb arrives wîth several absolutely new features. For the first time on Škoda vehicles there is a driver's knee and rear side airbags (up to 9 airbags), parking assistant and Bi-Xenon headlamps wîth AFS. For the 1.8 TSI/118kW engine there is a 7° automatic DSG transmission available which can be controlled using the 3-spoke multifunction §teering wheel.
Bi-Xenon headlamps wîth AFS
The headlamps of the model Superb, the unusual shape of which passes all the way to the sides of the wings, lend the front section of the vehicle a dynamic appearance. They form a powerfully dominant feature and a part of the elegant design of the entire vehicle which is impossible to overlook.
Bi-Xenon headlamps feature outstanding illumination and, combined wîth the new AFS (Adaptive Frontlight System), multifunctionality. They automatically adapt the lighting to various travel situations, swivel into turnings, depending on the speed and actual driving conditions change the illuminated surface and offer various lighting regimes, e.g. for city, motorway or driving in rain.
The 'tourist light' function is used by drivers entering a country wîth the opposite operating system than that for which the vehicle was manufactured. For instance, a car intended for driving on the right will not dazzle oncoming drivers in a country where they drive on the left.
The TwinDoor system
The TwinDoor, a unique system of opening the rear fifth door, is an original technical design which will take your breath away. If you wish to place smaller items in the boot, simply open the boot as you would on a classic sedan type body.
But not even a heftier load is any problem for the Superb. Thanks to the TwinDoor system you can open the rear boot, including the rear window, as you would wîth a liftback. You thus acquire comfortable access to the luggage space, the volume of which can be increased from 565 to an imposing 1,670 litres by tilting the backrest of the rear seats.
And yet another feature to relish. No more having to slam shut the boot, it is enough to let the lid lightly close. It is then fully locked by electrical motors automatically. It is really quite amazing what the Superb is capable of doing!
Comfort and practicality
Comfort in a Superb car does not just mean an imposing internal space. Every functional detail corresponds to your highest demands for comfort.
Take a specially moulded seats wîth more expressive lateral finish and extensive upper part for the backrest. Let yourself be pampered by modern technology and the highest quality materials.
The Škoda Superb is available in three equipment versions. The black Ray Comfort interior is supplemented by Stromboli décor and chromed accessories. In the Rubicon interior wîth Mirage décor the Ambition version offers a three-spoke leather §teering wheel, and a gear lever and handbrake in leather. In the highest Elegance version, the exclusive Felicity interior has Noblesse panelled wooden décor.
When driving on hot summer days, Climatronic air-conditioning wîth electronic regulation will ensure a pleasant environment in the interior, thanks to which it is possible to set different temperatures on the driver's and front passenger's sides. The sunroof wîth solar panels ensures ventilation of cool air even in a parked car. And what could be better for refreshment than drinks cooled in an air-conditioned dashboard compartment on the front passenger´s side?
In the winter, on the contrary, you can pre-heat your car to your preferred temperature wîth the help of independent auxiliary heating, and you are certain to appreciate the heated front and rear seats.
You can listen to the music you like or your favourite radio station in high quality thanks to the Bolero radio wîth a slot for an SD or MMC card and an integrated changer for 6 CDs.
So that the control elements are easily visible and reachable, there are white CatVision LED diodes and a reading light in the roof panel over the dashboard. Getting out of the car in the dark will be made easier by the illuminated internal door handles and Boarding Spots ligts on the underside of the external mirrors and car doors.
Space and power
One of the Superb' values is its extraordinary spaciousness. For example, the space for passengers' legs in the back in comparison wîth the previous generation increased by a total of 19 mm and the volume of the luggage space rose to 565 litres.
From the wide range of engines we can highlight, for example, the petrol four-cylinder 1.8 TSI wîth a power output of 118 kW (with a DSG gearbox). It reaches a torque of 250 Nm between 1800 and 4500 revs.
It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds. The engine has a favourable combined consumption - 7.6 l/100 km. A DSG seven-speed automatic gearbox can be chosen only wîth this engine.
Styling Kit
Whether you prefer a sporty style or an individual appearance to your car, we have the right design for you. The styling kit contains features which will add a unique character to your vehicle and emphasise its elegance.
The Superb will have a front bumper spoiler added, diffuser on the rear bumper, spoiler for the fifth door and decorative exhaust pipe end fitting (for selected engines this already comes as standard).
However, the styling kit is not only about design. Just like the other parts of the car it must meet strict safety criteria including protection of pedestrians. The materials used must have minimal fragmentation in the event of an accident, while being climate resistant. Each element of the fittings not only looks good but works fantastically - this has been shown by the functional trials held (driving through a water channel, vehicle towing, etc.).
Alloy wheels of the Škoda Genuine Accessories
You haven't chosen alloy wheels in the basic or extra? It doesn't matter, Škoda's original accessories offer you three exclusive wheels. Top of the range is the 18' Luxon, the 17' Flash is intended for use wîth snow chains, and the trio is completed by the 17' Laurel.
ŠKODA SUPERB WINS PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS
The new Škoda Superb has won a further two prestigious awards. One of them is the 2008 Golden Steering Wheel (Goldenes Lenkrad) organised by the German-based magazine Bild am Sonntag. The Škoda Superb came top amongst new medium class vehicles, beating altogether six competitors. 'The roominess of the interior and the applied materials offer new sensations and new levels of driving comfort, and the individual approach to design makes the Škoda Superb a fascinating car,' said Škoda Auto BOD Chairman Reinhard Jung.The jury made up of automotive journalists and VIPs reviewed multiple parameters, including driveability, roominess, value for money and workmanship quality. The vehicle also received top marks for its elegant looks and well-balanced proportions and scored high points for innovative technologies such as the TwinDoor system, 9 airbags including a knee one for the driver, AFS, etc.
The other prestigious award the vehicle received recently is the Großen Österreichischen Automobil-Preis organised every year by ARBÖ. Experts, VIPs and thousands of readers selected the best and most popular vehicles of 2008 from altogether 36 candidates this year. Combining the convenience and usefulness of a lift-back wîth the elegance of a sedan, the Škoda Superb won the 'Medium' category.
Earlier on, the new Superb won the '2008 Technobest' awarded by the Automotive Journalists Club in the Czech Republic for the TwinDoor system, and became the 'Most Beautiful Car' in Poland, the 'Best Company Car' in Croatia, the Car of the Year 2008' in Latvia and the Company Vehicle of the Year 2008' in Germany.

As a world premiere, Škoda Auto is going to present a facelifted version of the Octavia at this year's Paris Motor Show (2-19 October, 2008).Produced or assembled in altogether eight countries, the Octavia is Škoda's bestseller. The rejuvenated version is now coming wîth a more emotionally powerful design. 'The Octavia has always had a special position among Škoda vehicles. It is our most successful model, very popular worldwide. Now it has gone through a complete transformation that is apparent in the new interior and exterior, as well as the applied technology,' said Dr. Eckhard Scholz, BOD Member responsible for technological development.
When lòòking from the front, the key enhancements include newly shaped, bolder headlamps, a more robust radiator grille and a one-piece bumper. The innovation of the rear part of the vehicle is mainly about new tail lamp covers and a dynamic bumper wîth integrated cat eyes.
The interior offers an innovated line of Škoda audio and navigation systems. The §teering wheel, the dashboard (white-backlit), the air conditioning controls and the decorative strips on the doors and the central console have been redesigned. In addition, new upholstery fabrics are available across all equipment levels (Classic, Ambiente and Elegance).
New adaptive xenon headlamps enhance the vehicle's active safety, passive safety has been improved by installing front WOKS headrests for effective rear impact protection (in all equipment levels). Innovative changes are to be found also under the bonnet – Škoda is coming wîth a brand new 1.4 TSI/90 kW engine. ŠKODA AUTO PROVIDES THE LATEST SUPERB CARS TO THE CZECH GOVERNMENT
The Czech car maker Škoda Auto will provide 27 Škoda Superb cars to the Czech Government car fleet during the Czech EÚ presidency in 2009.Today the respective contract has been signed by the car maker's representative Fred Kappler and Alexander Vondra, the Vice President of the Government for European affairs.
The cars will transport Government Members and delegations from the EÚ member states in the first half-year of 2009, when the Czech Republic will preside the EÚ and numerous work meetings will be held in the country.
