2009 Renault Clio Campus news, pictures, and information

CLIO CAMPUS

• With 3,786,200 units produced since its launch, Clio II has confirmed its position as one of Europe's market leaders in the compact hatchback segment. At the end of October 2003, worldwide productions figures for Clio II stood at 3,786,245 units. This figure is comprised of 3,530,200 passenger cars and 256,045 fleet cars. In France, Clio is still the best seller in all segments combined, with an 8.3% market share at the close of October.

• Clio Generation 2004 offers a broader range with 97 versions, an interior with new choice of upholsteries and a further enhanced quality of finish. As for the exterior, Clio is now available in a wider selection of colours with a new bumper assembly available on some versions (100bhp 1.5 dCi, Dynamique trim level and the Initiale version).

• Clio Generation 2004 also sees a new 100bhp 1.5 dCi version added to the existing range of diesel powertrains (65 and 80bhp 1.5 dCi versions). This version is notable for its responsiveness at all engine speeds. The petrol engine range remains unchanged, with the 60bhp 1.2, 75bhp 1.2 16V, 98bhp 1.4 16V, 110bhp 1.6 16V and 1.2 LPG. All these engines are coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The automatic transmission offer comprises the
Quickshift 5 robotized gearbox with the 1.2 16V engine and a 4-speed proactive automatic transmission with the 1.4 16V and 1.6 16V.

• Clio Renault Sport 2.0 16V Generation 2004 wears the new Renault Sport badge, a mark of its new performance characteristics. With a new chassis and an engine with power increased to 182bhp, the performance and driving pleasure of Clio 2.0 16v Generation 2004 is taken to new levels. With a new sports chassis option, this compact sport version will also satisfy the most demanding motor sport enthusiasts.

• In terms of safety, Clio Generation 2004 carries over all those fundamentals that have made New Clio a benchmark vehicle, beginning with its exemplary roadholding. An extensive range of equipment, including ABS with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), ESP and Xeno headlamps with washers, contribute to this high level of active safety. In terms of passive safety, this new generation retains the 3rd generation Renault System for Restraint and Protection, which notably includes adaptive front airbags with 2 inflation stages.

Clio Generation 2004 will be manufactured at three sites: Flins in France, Valladolid in Spain and Novo Mesto in Slovenia.

Flins plant to produce Clio Campus

The Flins plant in the Yvelines département in France will manufacture around 15,000 Clio Campus in 2008, on top of the Clio III volumes already programmed for the plant next year.

The manufacturing facilities at Flins will be adapted for Clio Campus production, scheduled to begin at the end of May 2008.

In 2007, the Novo Mesto plant, which already manufactured Clio Campus, also started to produce New Twingo. The strong demand for New Twingo since launch in June combined with continued high sales of the ever-successful Clio Campus model requires that this last also be produced at another plant. Sales forecasts for Clio Campus in 2008 exceed Novo Mesto output capacity by 15,000 models.

Renault is able to rapidly absorb any surplus in production because it has flexible manufacturing facilities. The Flins plant, which was selected for this additional production, manufactured Clio II (from which Clio Campus is derived) from 1998 to 2005.
