SCÉNIC II: THE INTELLIGENCE OF AN MPV, THE DRIVING PLEASURE OF A SALOON

Scénic II embodies a modern and expressive style wîth its one-box design and 'hatchback-style' rear treatment, contained within an overall length of just 4.25 metres. The vehicle has a wide track, long wheelbase and reduced overhangs. The cabin interior is equipped wîth a typical MPV dashboard featuring a centrally-mounted instrument panel. Scénic II continues the principle of the 'à la carte' car, allowing the customer to combine an overall colour and trim scheme (Authentique, Expression, Dynamique or Privilège) wîth an equipment level (Pack, Confort or Luxe) and a powertrain.

Scénic II achieves maximum interior space. It gains 26mm of headroom in the front and 23mm of elbowroom, and offers 226 mm of rear seat knee room. With a windscreen area of 1.40 sq. metres, the car provides a remarkable panoramic view. The cabin interior provides a high level of interior brightness thanks to a panoramic sunroof wîth an area of 1.61 sq. metres – unique in the §egmènt. Scénic II naturally retains all the versatility offered on Scénic and adds new functions: for the Confort and Luxe equipment levels, the gearchange and automatic parking brake are mounted in the dashboard. The front passenger seat can now be folded to form a flat, hard-surfaced table. The three back seats, when set into their vertical stowage position, latch themselves and maintain the position automatically. Scénic II is also equipped wîth an opening rear window.

The stowage spaces of Scénic II provide a total capacity of 91 litres. This includes a 15-litre sliding centre stowage feature, which can be electrically unlatched. The refrigerated glovebox is increased in size to 17 litres. The four drawers beneath the seats as well as four additional compartments, are easily accessible thanks to the flat floorpan. Depending on the position of the back seats, the volume of the luggage space can vary from 430 to 480 litres (VDA). Scénic II introduces to its §egmènt three new technical innovations: bi-xenon headlamps, the automatic parking brake and the fuel filler flap wîth built-in cap. Scénic II is also equipped wîth parking sensors and offers two navigation systems: Carminat Guidance and Carminat Advanced Navigation System.

Scénic II provides a wide array of powertrains. The petrol engine range comprises the 98bhp 1.4 16V, the 115bhp 1.6 16V and the 136bhp 2.0 16V, while the diesel range includes the 80bhp 1.5 dCi, the 100bhp 1.5 dCi and the 120bhp 1.9 dCi, wîth maximum torque increased to 300 Nm. The range of five-speed and six-speed manual gearboxes and flick-shift proactive automatic transmission has been taken from Mégane II wîth changes in gearing to adapt to the needs of Scénic II. Scénic II also has adopted Mégane II's front and rear suspension to achieve well-controlled dynamic comfort. The use of large-diameter anti-roll bars and wide tracks ensure exemplary control of roll angles.

Scénic II is equipped wîth new-generation ESP wîth understeer control, a tyre pressure monitoring system and Pax run-flat tyres system, ABS and Emergency Brake Assist. It is also fitted wîth the restraint mechanisms of the third-generation Renault System for Restraint and Protection, wîth three-point safety belts for all seats, and includes many strengthened zones wîth programmed deformation. The Scénic II safety system includes up to six airbags including two adaptive frontal bags.

Renault's Research and Advanced Studies Director Michel Vimont is to visit Jean-Louis Borloo, French Minister of State and Minister for Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Town and Country Planning (Regional Development), tomorrow, Tuesday October 7, 2008. Michel Vimont will profit from the meeting scheduled for 9.15am to talk Mr. Borloo through the 'zero emission' Renault Scenic ZEV H2 which will be parked in front of the Ministry for Sustainable Development in Paris.

Furthermore, Renault Scenic ZEV H2 is equipped wîth a hydrogen fuel cell which produces the electricity for the motor and which produces just one by-product: water. Although a prototype, Renault Scenic ZEV H2 can be seen as a genuine, spacious car that is ideally suited to everyday motoring in terms of both the travelling comfort and performance it
delivers.

Renault is committed to the development of zero emission vehicles which it sees as a necessary solution to break from existing practices. RENAULT SCENIC, 'THE ORIGINAL'

• Renault is paying tribute to the success of Renault Scénic, founder of the compact MPV §egmènt, through an international advertising campaign
• Renault Scénic has been produced in 2.8 million units since the launch of Scénic I in 1996
• Renault Scénic Conquest, the latest addition to the Scénic family

Innovative, friendly and unique, Renault Scénic revolutionized the compact MPV §egmènt on its launch 12 years ago. Renault positioned itself as the pioneer in MPVs from the 1980s, anticipating customer expectations wîth the launch of Renault Espace in 1984, Twingo in 1993 and – three years later – Renault Scénic, an inventive and generous family car.

Designed to carry people in a new and original way, Scénic has delivered ever higher standards of comfort, modularity and functionality over the years. With Scénic Conquest, the Scénic family gains a 'go-anywhere' version focused on leisure and travel. To illustrate the success story of Renault Scénic and reinforce its image as a vehicle of character wîth Scénic Conquest, Renault is launching an international advertising campaign, entitled 'The Prodigal Father'.

The slogan selected by Renault is 'You should have chosen a Scénic'. The aim is to sustain Scénic's image as the founder of the §egmènt and to spotlight customers by giving them an 'emotional' reason to buy: choosing 'the original'.

Restate Scénic's leadership in MPV qualities and position it as the best choice on the market are the two objectives of this light-hearted advertising campaign, where the authentic and emotional ties between Scénic and its owners is more than ever on topic.
