1959 Rytune FJ Scorpion

Rytune Engineering, of Winchelsea, England produced the Scorpion for Formula Junior Competition. Frank Webb, with association to HWM, Harry Weslake, and Elva fame, was the individual responsible for these FJ racers. They were powered by a three-cylinder, 1000cc DKW engine which was mounted in the front and fitted with Amal carburetors. Horsepower was in the 80hp region. The four-speed gearbox was mounted directly on the engine while the differential was bolted to the chassis in the rear. This provided the car with a 52 / 48 percent weight distribution. The suspension was independent in both the front and rear via wishbones. Drum brakes were at four corners and steering was managed through a rack-and-pinion setup.
