20 Elfin Formula Juniors were constructed of a multi-tubular space frame with aluminum and GRP body panels using engine options including Ford 1100, 1340 and 1500, Coventry Climax, Peugeot, Hillman Imp and even a Vincent HRD motor bike engine.

Winner of the 1962 Australian Formula Junior Championship driven by Frank Matich.

An Elfin was used to test tyre compounds and track conditions for Donald Campbell's Bluebird 1963 successful world land speed record on Lake Ayre.

This vehicle is chassis number FJ621 and was the 3rd Elfin Formula Junior built. Delivered in January of 1962 to Roy Morris with an 1100cc Coventry Climax engine fitted. The engine was replaced with a Ford Anglia motor in 1963 and contested the Victorian Formula Junior Championship driven by Tony Reynolds. It was later fitted with a 1340cc Ford Consul, then a 1500cc Ford Cortina over several owners. Campaigned in Group O Historics for 20 years by South Australian, Derry Greeneklee.

It was purchased by Bill Hemming in 2007 and restored to its 1963 Ford 1100cc Group M specifications to contest the 2008 Formula Junior 50th Anniversary series in Australia, New Zealand, USA and South Africa.
The Australian based company, Elfin Cars, was formed in 1957 for the purposes of creating sports cars and competing in motor racing. Their products have included racers for Formula Vee, Formula 5000, and sports car racing. They have won at least 29 championships and major titles.
