2010 Hummer H3 news, pictures, and information

The H3T is bigger than a midsize truck and smaller than a full-size truck, creating its own niche in the market. It also is infused wîth the attributes expected of a HÚMMER, including exceptional off-road capability and a premium interior that is as functional as it is comfortable. The H3T is offered in five trim levels, including five-cylinder models and the popular, V-8-powered H3T Alpha edition.

'With its unique size and HÚMMER traits, the H3T is ideal for the customer who works hard and plays harder,' said Martin Walsh, HÚMMER general manager. 'It offers the combination of truck versatility and HÚMMER off-road prowess that delivers customers to the trail in style.'

In addition to its §egmènt-defying size, the H3T also stands apart from other trucks wîth its signature HÚMMER off-road capability. It is the only midsize truck to come standard wîth full-time four-wheel drive, 32-inch tires and functional skid shields. It also is the only midsize truck to offer front and rear locking differentials, as well as 33-inch tires.

The H3 lineup also delivers exceptional rock crawling and climbing performance; it was engineered for off-road leadership among midsize SÚVs. The heart of this capability is its electronically controlled four-wheel-drive system and suspension tuning tailored for off-road performance. In addition, the H3 features standard underbody shielding, brake traction control, and an optional 4.03:1 transfer case wîth front- and rear-locking differentials. The H3 and H3T are the first vehicles wîth independent front suspensions to be offered wîth a front-locking differential from the factory.

Among its off-road credentials, the H3 can ford 24-inch (610 mm) streams at a 5-mph pace, climb 16-inch (407 mm) vertical steps and rocks, make its way through deep sand and race easily over sandy surfaces.

H3's more maneuverable size provides advantages, such as a 37-foot turning circle (SÚV models) that is about the same as a typical compact car, making easy work of parking lot maneuvers during everyday use and tight turns when off-roading. High ground clearance and great breakover angles make it possible to clear large obstacles in off-road driving. Serious off-road performance is also aided by exceptional approach and departure angles that permit the H3 and H3T to drive into a hole and back out again, without getting hung up in the front or rear.

Rod Hall Racing and HUMMER H3 Capture Stock Class Victories at 2009 Baja 1000

• H3 Alpha first stock class vehicle to finish in 3 rd consecutive Baja 1000

• H3 Alpha captures stock full class win; H3 captures stock mini class win

• Rod Hall, 72, earns record-setting 21 st Baja 1000 class win

DETROIT – Rod Hall Racing once again demonstrated the inherent off-road capability of the HÚMMER H3 as the team secured both the stock full and stock mini class wins at the 2009 SCORE International Baja 1000. The #860 H3 Alpha, piloted by Chad Hall, captured the stock full class victory, while team owner Rod Hall partnered wîth Emily Miller and Mike Winkel to earn the stock mini class win wîth the #761 H3.

With the combined wins, Rod Hall holds the record of 21 Baja 1000 class wins and remains the only racer to have competed in all 42 Baja 1000 competitions.

The 2009 SCORE International Baja 1000 marked the 42nd anniversary of the grueling off-road race and covered 672.85 miles, starting and finishing in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. It ran from November 20-21, 2009.

'Off-road motorsports is an integral part of HÚMMER's vehicle development process and a cornerstone of the brand's DNA,' said James Taylor, HÚMMER CEO. 'We're extremely proud of the team's resilience to earn these stock class victories and congratulate the Rod Hall Racing program on another successful Baja 1000. Race after race, they continue to prove the rugged nature of HÚMMER vehicles.'

In the stock full class, Chad ran a trouble free race in the #860 H3 Alpha, finishing in 22:48:40 hours and averaging 29.50 mph. While the team won the class by more than four hours, they battled the nearest competitor's Dodge Ram 2500 for the entire race until the Ram suffered a broken front axle less than 30 miles from the finish. The victory marked the third consecutive Baja 1000 in which the H3 Alpha was the first stock class vehicle to finish the race and was Chad Hall's eighth Baja 1000 class win.

'These production trucks are the right size. They're fun, take a lot of abuse and just keep running and running,' said Rod Hall. 'You'd be surprised at how much abuse the H3 can take.'

In stock mini, the team suffered an early 100-mile deficit as a result of a broken §teering rack seal caused by a significant impact to the front end of the #761 H3 near race mile 40. Despite the odds, the team battled back to pass the class leader less than 30 miles from the finish line and post a winning time of 28:53:30 hours.

One of the three Halls has been the driver of record behind the wheel of a HÚMMER on a class-winning team in the SCORE Baja 1000 for the ninth straight year and 13 th time in the 16 year-history of the stock class. With 33 class wins, the Halls continue to be the winningest family in the history of the race.

U.S. Gazelles to Pilot HUMMER H3 in Women-Only Off-Road Rally

When deciding what vehicle to use in the grueling Rallye Aicha des Gazelles, the Ú.S. Gazelles race team chose the vehicle best suited for off-road rallies, the HÚMMER H3.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary, the Rallye Aicha des Gazelles is an intense nine-day off-road rally, traversing the rugged terrain and sand dunes of Morocco. The women-only competition runs from March 13th – March 27th. The 'Gazelles', 110 teams from 30 countries, compete without GPS, cell phones or support crews, navigating only by compass and maps from the 1950s. The objective of the rally is to complete the event in the shortest number of kilometers, while still reaching each days' required checkpoints.

The Ú.S. Gazelles, composed of driver, Emily Miller and navigator, Wendy Fisher is the only Ú.S. team to compete in the Rally. Miller, a team driver for Rod Hall Racing and Baja 1000 class winner is the only woman to 'Ironman' the longest off-road race in the ÚS. Fisher is an icon in the sport of big mountain freeskiing and two-time Extreme Skiing World Champion.

'When you're skiing in the backcountry, you want to use the best possible gear to keep you safe and successfully finish the run,' said Miller. 'This race is no different. We wanted the best possible equipment for the race, which is why we chose the HÚMMER H3.'

The Ú.S. Gazelles will be piloting a HÚMMER H3 provided and race-prepped by HÚMMER France. The H3 features a race-proven inline-five cylinder engine, full-time 4wd, and a locking rear differential for difficult terrain. The race truck rides on 33-inch BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires.
