There are a number of company's products and technologies that have considerably enhanced the overall significance of the concept. The list includes the Howell Engine Developments Inc, for their help in getting the wiring straight. AkzoNobel was responsible for the incredible paint job. Other companies include Cadillac, Lear Corp, Alcoa Helios Coatings Inc, Medallion, IAC, RCR, Air Ride Technologies, The Driveshaft Shop, Superior Radiator, Cool It Thermo, R.J.S Racing and Piloti.
The car was built and presented by Wayne Cherry, the former head of design for GM.
Cadillac unveiled its VSR Hot Rod Concept, a car that is reminiscent of the old Chrysler-Plymouth Prowler from the 90's. The Hot Rod was built for SEMA and was made by GM Performance parts and Race Car Replicas. The Cadillac VSR Hot Rod concept shares the very same Cadillac styling that was done over a low slung tube framed hot rod chassis. Able to achieve 0-150mph in just less than 10 seconds, the VSR concept is quite a sight to behold. A forward thinking, ‘manufacture themed rod', the Cadillac VSR is considered to be the ‘future of rodding'.
The Cadillac VSR is powered by a 6.0 liter V8 engine capable of achieving 400 hp. The VSR Hot Rod came with a custom superior radiator and RCR custom milled cylinder back engine covers. The VSR concept features nicely placed brake ducts and low profile tires. The hot rod features a chassis that is constructed of TIG welded monocoque tub with extruded aluminum superstructure.
On the inside of the VSR, the interior featured custom digital instrumentation by Medallion, carbon fiber seat module, Chris Jones designed custom console and lush leather covered seats.
GM certified; the VSR is a street racer that is incredibly eye-catching but unfortunately it lacks the impressive power that other Cadillac's on the market have. Also the rise in fuel prices in America is also much to blame for this vehicle remaining purely what it is, a concept.Jessica Donaldson
