1908 Cadillac Model M news, pictures, and information

Tulip Roadster

1908 was the final year for Cadillac before it became part of the General Motors Corporation, organized by William Durant.

This Cadillac Type M began its life as a passenger car, but early in its history was converted to a truck - a not uncommon occurrence in those early days of motoring.

The inline four-cylinder motor developed 25 horsepower. It featured a cast-iron crankcase and copper water jacket. 1908 was the last year for Cadillac's bulky planetary transmission. Price new in 1908 was $2,000.
The 1908 Cadillac Model M came equipped with an oil lamp in the back and two oil lamps on the side, near the front. It had a wheelbase that measured 76 inches and rode on wooden 12-spoke wheels. Power was from a single-cylinder engine mated to a planetary transmission.
