Sport Sedan

Elwood Haynes claimed to have built the first automobile. He had partnered with the Apperson brothers to build a car in 1898, then went off on his own in 1904 and built automobiles in Kokomo, Indiana until 1925.

For 1923, Haynes offered three models : two six cylinders and a twelve. This is the six-cylinder Model 55, which rode on a 121 inch wheelbase chassis and developed 50 horsepower. The Model 55 sedan sold for just under $3,000 in 1923, a significant amount of money.

A merger between Haynes, Winton and Dorris was rumored in 1923 but never came to pass. The company produced 4,231 cars in 1923 and only 330 in 1925 when the company folded.
