1932 Moyers Simplex Special Beach Racer news, pictures, and information

This one-off race car was constructed by Joseph B. Moyers between 1930 and 1931. He used a 1928 Chevrolet Model AB four-cylinder engine with twin Winfield carburetors and other modifications. The transmission and brakes are also Chevrolet and they are mounted to a 1927 Essex chassis. Mr. Moyers raced the car extensively on beach and dirt tracks throughout Florida and southern Georgia until he sold the car to M.L. Dyes in 1935.

Moyers' son, Davey, re-purchased this car in the 1940s. It was from his widow that the current owners purchased the car in pieces with only the engine attached to the frame. It has been fully restored and widely believed to be the only authentic beach racer to survive.
