NASHVILLE, Tenn. – College sports fans today can download Nissan's updated Diehard Fan App to virtually paint their game face using a smartphone or tablet (iOS and select Android devices).

The augmented reality app combines a time-tested fan tradition of face painting in team colors, with innovative technology, to deliver an immersive digital experience sure to excite sports fans. Each face paint was hand painted on human models by a world-champion face painter, and then digitally re-mastered to produce the most realistic look possible.

'Updates to Nissan's Diehard Fan mobile app brings even more excitement this fall as college sports swing into action,' said Jeremy Tucker, vice president, Marketing Communications & Media at Nissan North America. 'This is just one way to unleash your team colors anywhere, anytime, and engage with Nissan and our College 100 Sponsorship of men's and women's college sports programs throughout the U.S.'

Michigan State, Notre Dame, San Diego State and University of Hawaii are added to the list of colleges on the app, which now also features new face-paint designs and a 3-D animated cheer feature. Fans can browse team-specific cheers by swiping up or down, selecting one, and watching it appear. Besides sharing via social media, users can also upload their Diehard Fan pictures and videos to a public 'Fan Gallery' housed within the app. This new features allows fans to browse other photos, and support their favorite team with like-spirited fans from across the country.

Nissan is also launching a new sweepstakes to kick-off to college football season. Take a turn at virtually customizing a Nissan TITAN for a chance to win that custom-wrapped truck in your team's colors (official rules are here.).
