2010 SDR Sportscars WR3 V-Storm

Autosport International marks the launch of the keenly anticipated Subaru powered WR3 V-Storm. The car is based around the increasingly familiar theme of the exoskeleton type chassis, though it has a number of different features that set it apart. The most obvious of these is the 3 seat cockpit layout which provides not only that single seat race car feel with its central driving position, but also a surprising amount of room for the two passengers in a very compact overall package.

The V-Storm also features a clever and unique modular chassis design, an additional benefit for the customer is that they have the flexibility to update their existing cars with new bodywork styles and engine packages as new options become available without having to change their car. Simply swop the interchangeable bodywork or change the rear sub frame to install a different engine package to get a completely different looking and driving vehicle. This upgradability is unique to SDR and is a major selling point.

After working closely with design partner First Principle Design, the new WR3 Subaru powered version of the V-Storm is the natural evolution of SDR's previous bike powered versions and is the range topping model. This is an internationally registered design and is manufactured to stringent ISO 9002 quality standards. ( posted on conceptcarz.com)

The Subaru Boxer 4 engine configuration provides a low centre of gravity which helps provide excellent handling for the car. Additionally the transmission is ideally suited for the optimum mid-engine layout. The transmission is converted from 4WD to a 2WD configuration. This creates an ideal transaxle, and a true race car style arrangement.

The mid-engine arrangement provides superb handling and balance to the car and delivers excellent traction during acceleration. The current demo car has a lightly tuned STi unit which delivers in excess of 300bhp. With an all up weight of around 700kg, performance is explosive. The 0-60mph times are expected to dip into the 3 second bracket, with equally stunning mid-range acceleration.
