Ford Focus RS WRC Edition: Série spéciale anniversaire Édition limitée
Ford Suisse l'avait promis et tient promesse : Après avoir fait sensation comme concept-car à l'occasion du 23e Auto Zürich Car Show en novembre dernier, la Focus RS WRC Edition termine maintenant son sprint final pour arriver chez les concessionnaires. La série spéciale limitée créée à l'occasion des « 40 ans de la Ford RS » et produite à cinquante exemplaires a été dessinée dans le cadre d'un concours de design.Les fans s'en souviennent : en octobre 2009, Ford Suisse a appelé les inconditionnels de la Focus à redessiner la sportive Focus RS afin de lui donner un look sportif individuel et unique. Le projet plébiscité devait, comme le promettait l'importateur, être poussé jusqu'au stade de la production, sous la forme d'un modèle spécial commercialisé en une série spéciale très limitée appelée Ford Focus RS WRC Edition. Ce sont les 40 ans de la Ford RS, fêtés cette année, qui constituent le point de départ de cette action. Il s'agit également de rendre hommage à la légendaire Ford Escort RS1600 lancée en 1970.
Ford Suisse a, depuis, tenu promesse et enfin sorti l'édition spéciale Focus RS WRC après l'avoir présentée sous forme de show car en novembre au 23e Auto Zürich. Cinquante exemplaires seront produits, dont les premiers arriveront aux salles d'exposition des concessionnaires Ford dans les prochains jours.
Les cinquante modèles spéciaux WRC se distinguent de la Ford Focus RS avec peinture « Frozen White » par leurs autocollants, des jantes noires de 19 pouces OZ Superturismo GT et, dans l'habitacle, une plaque portant les signatures de Mikko Hirvonen et Jarmo Lehtinen, les deux pilotes Ford WRC finnois ayant remporté le titre de champion du monde de la saison passée avec une avance d'un seul tout petit point.
Les moyens de conférer à la super-sportive un look digne d'elle étaient nombreux. Ford Suisse a ainsi proposé sur www.newfordfocusrs.ch différents projets de design parmi lesquels chaque visiteur pouvait élire son préféré. Parallèlement au vote, Ford invitait chacun à donner son avis et ses commentaires et a encouragé les membres du jury à soumettre leurs suggestions d'amélioration concrètes dans le forum. L'écho fut retentissant – l'importateur Ford suisse a été littéralement bombardé d'idées de design plus créatives les unes que les autres.
La Ford Focus RS WRC est livrable dès 55 900 francs – avec un équipement complet et une puissance souveraine de 305 ch pour un couple de 440 newtons-mètre. Cette débauche d'énergie est délivrée par une version RS à la puissance encore majorée et spécialement mise au point du cinq cylindres turbo de 2,5 litres. Úne puissance largement suffisante pour permettre à la voiture d'atteindre une vitesse maximale de 260 km/h et pour la catapulter de 0 à 100 km/h en moins de six secondes.

Ford Schweiz hat es versprochen, und Wort gehalten: Nach der Aufsehen erregenden Premiere an der 23. Auto Zürich Car Show im vergangenen November als Concept Car rollt der Focus RS WRC Edition jetzt im finalen Sporttrimm zu den Vertragshändlern. Die zum Jubiläum 40 Jahre Ford RS aufgelegte und auf 50 Einheiten limitierte Sonderserie wurde im Rahmen eines Design-Wettbewerbs gestaltet.Enthusiasten erinnern sich: Im Oktober 2009 rief Ford Schweiz die Focus-Fans dazu auf, den Spitzensportler Focus RS umzugestalten und ihm einen individuellen und einmaligen Sport-Look zu verpassen. Das schönste und beliebteste Outfit, so versprach der Importeur, sollte später auf der Strasse zu bewundern sein. Únd zwar an einem Spezialmodell, das in einer streng limitierten Auflage als Sonderserie Ford Focus RS WRC Edition in den Markt gelangen würde. Auslöser dieser Aktion ist das Jubiläum «40 Jahre Ford RS», das heuer gefeiert wird. Únd gleichzeitig ist es eine Hommage an den 1970 lancierten und legendären Ford Escort RS1600.
Ford Schweiz hat in der Zwischenzeit sein Versprechen eingelöst und die Sonderedition Focus RS WRC, nachdem sie im November anlässlich der 23. Auto Zürich als Showcar präsentiert worden war, nun endgültig auf die Breitreifen gestellt. Die ersten von den insgesamt 50 Fahrzeugen kommen in diesen Tagen in den Showrooms der Ford-Händler an.
Vom Ford Focus RS in der Lackierung Frozen White unterscheiden sich die 50 WRC-Sondermodelle durch eine entsprechende Beklebung, schwarze 19-Zoll-Felgen des Typs OZ Superturismo GT und eine Plakette im Interieur mit Únterschriften von Mikko Hirvonen und Jarmo Lehtinen. Die beiden finnischen Ford-WRC-Werksfahrer haben den Weltmeistertitel in der vergangenen Saison um ein winziges Pünktchen verpasst.
Wege, um dem Supersportler die entsprechende Optik zu verleihen, gab es viele. So schaltete Ford Schweiz zum Beispiel im Internet auf www.newfordfocusrs.ch verschiedene Designvorschläge auf, aus denen jeder Website-Besucher seinen Favoriten auswählen konnte. Gleichzeitig wurde aber nicht nur abgestimmt, sondern Ford fragte nach Meinungen und Kommentaren und ermunterte die Juroren dazu, im Forum konkrete Verbesserungsvorschläge einzubringen. Das Echo war gewaltig – der Schweizer Ford-Importeur wurde geradezu bombardiert mit kreativen Designideen.
Der Focus RS WRC Edition ist für 55 900 Franken lieferbar – mit Komplettausstattung und einem souveränen Kraftangebot von 305 PS und 440 Newtonmeter. Zur Verfügung gestellt wird diese Power von einer speziell entwickelten, nochmals leistungsgesteigerten RS-Version des 2,5-Liter-Turbo-Fünfzylinders. Diese Kraft reicht locker aus, um bei Bedarf 260 km/h schnell zu rennen und in weniger als sechs Sekunden auf Tempo 100 zu beschleunigen.

La serie speciale, creata per l'anniversario '40 anni Ford RS' e limitata ad appena 50 unità, è stata concepita in occasione di un concorso di design.Gli entusiasti se lo ricordano: nell'ottobre 2009 Ford Svizzera aveva invitato gli appassionati Focus a migliorare la vettura sportiva di punta Focus RS con un look sportivo unico nel suo genere. Come promesso dall'importatore, l'outfit più accattivante e più amato avrebbe potuto essere ammirato in seguito sulle strade. E cioè come modello speciale che sarebbe stato lanciato sul mercato con una serie speciale limitatissima: la Ford Focus RS WRC Edition. L'elemento scatenante di questo evento è l'anniversario '40 anni Ford RS' festeggiato quest'anno. E allo stesso tempo è un omaggio alla leggendaria Ford Escort RS1600 lanciata nel 1970.
Nel frattempo Ford Svizzera ha mantenuto la sua promessa ed ora verrà immessa definitivamente sul mercato l'edizione speciale Focus RS WRC, dopo la sua presentazione come showcar in novembre durante il 23° Salone dell'Automobile di Zurigo. Rispetto alla Ford Focus RS con vernice 'Frozen White' i 50 modelli speciali WRC si differenziano per un adesivo apposito, cerchi da 19 pollici del tipo OZ Superturismo GT e una piastrina nell'abitacolo con gli autografi di Mikko Hirvonen e Jarmo Lehtinen. Nella scorsa stagione i due piloti finlandesi Ford WRC non sono riusciti a conquistare il titolo di campione mondiale per un solo punto.
Le possibilità per conferire un look adeguato a questa vettura supersportiva sono state innumerevoli. Ford Svizzera aveva pubblicato in Internet all'indirizzo www.newfordfocusrs.ch, ad esempio, diverse proposte di design fra le quali ciascun visitatore della pagina web poteva scegliere le sue preferite. Contemporaneamente alla votazione, Ford aveva anche richiesto opinioni e commenti e incitato la giuria ad aggiungere nel forum delle proposte concrete di perfezionamento. La Focus RS WRC Edition è disponibile a CHF 55 900 – con un allestimento completo e un'offerta sovrana con una potenza di ben 305 CV e una coppia di 440 Nm. Questa potenza viene erogata da una versione RS specificatamente concepita, con prestazioni ulteriormente migliorate, del motore turbo cinque cilindri di 2,5 litri. RECORD-BREAKING FORD FOCUS RS WORLD RALLY CAR BEGINS FINAL SEASON CHALLENGE AS FIESTA WAITS IN WINGS
The record-breaking Focus RS World Rally Car has started its 12th and final season as Ford Motor Company's official challenger in the FIA World Rally Championship. The car, which powered Ford to consecutive manufacturers' world titles in 2006 and 2007, will be replaced in 2011 by an all-new car based on the highly-successful Fiesta road car.The Ford Focus RS WRC has won 41 world rallies since its debut at the Monte Carlo Rally in 1999. It ended last season having scored points on a remarkable 119 consecutive world rallies, a record stretching back to the start of the 2002 season and one unmatched in WRC history.
During the 2010 season Ford of Europe and technical partner M-Sport will develop an all-new challenger for 2011 using M-Sport's Fiesta S2000 rally car as its base. Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen took the Fiesta S2000 to victory 'first time out' on the famous Monte Carlo Rally in January this year. (Note: Monte Carlo is not a WRC round for 2010.
Strong Team for 2010 Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen, runners-up in the 2008 and 2009 drivers' championships, are again partnered by fellow Finns Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila in the BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team for 2010. In their Focus RS WRC, they will tackle a 13-round series which started in Sweden last month and ends in Britain in November.Khalid Al Qassimi and Michael Orr are driving a third car for the team. The Abu Dhabi driver will contest 10 rounds.
Henning Solberg and new co-driver Ilka Minor will return to the series wîth the re-named Stobart M-Sport Ford team alongside Matthew Wilson and Scott Martin. Both will drive Focus RS WRCs.
American action sports icon turned rally driver, Ken Block, will also be seen behind the wheel of Ford rally cars in 2010. His newly-formed Monster World Rally Team will be in action during a seven-round WRC programme wîth a Focus RS WRC. His first outing will be at Rally Mexico (4 - 7 March) and he will also tackle rounds in Turkey, Portugal, Germany, France, Spain and Britain. His car will be prepared by British-based M-Sport, the company which operates Ford's official world rally programme.Block will combine his WRC season wîth all six rounds of the Rally America series at the wheel of a Monster Fiesta Rally America car. His North American programme will culminate at the X Games 16 event in Los Angeles in early August. His co-driver is Italian Alessandro Gelsomino.
The two-litre turbocharged Monster Fiesta Rally America car is prepared by Swedish team Olsbergs Motorsports Evolution (OSME) and is based on the successful production-based Fiesta Rallycross car that competed in the FIA European Rallycross Championship in 2009.
Both Block's programmes will be supported primarily by Monster Energy Drink and Ford.Ford of Europe motorsport chief,Gerard Quinn, is confident of a strong season this year.
'The experience both drivers gained in 2009 will be invaluable this year,' Quinn §äid. 'Mikko flourished last season and to miss out on the drivers' title by just a single point against the most successful driver the sport has seen speaks volumes about his performance level. I'm confident we can again challenge for both the manufacturers' and drivers' titles.
'Hand-in-hand wîth our competitive season, we will be developing the new Fiesta rally car for the 2011 WRC. We have the strong attributes of the Fiesta road car on which to build.
