1981 Arrows A3 news, pictures, and information

The Arrows A3 Formula One racecar was raced during the 1980 and 1981 F1 season. The Arrows Grand Prix International team was founded in 1977 by Italian financier Franco Ambrosio, Alan Rees, Dave Wass, Tony Southgate, and Jackie Oliver. The team was formed with Rees, Oliver, Southgate, and Waas left the Shadow team. Shadow sued the Shadow team, claiming copyright infringement. The issue was with the Arrows FA/1; Shadow claimed it was a copy of the Shadow DN9. So the team built a new car called the A1. The work was completed in just 53 days.

The Arrows A3 began racing in 1980 and, during its racing career, had two 2nd place finishes, one 1st place finish, and 25 retirements. It made its racing debut at the 1980 Argentine GP and its last race was at the South African GP in 1982.

1962 Monaco Grand Prix: McLaren Carries the Cooper Flag back to the Top
By the beginning of the 1962 Formula One season Jack Brabham had left Cooper to form his own racing team. It seemed the glories days of the double World Championship were well and truly behind them. However, left in Brabham's stead would be a man very akin to the Australian in so many ways. And in Bruce McLaren, Cooper had a driver and competitor more than apt to help carry the team forward into the future. The first race of the 1962 season, the Grand Prix of the Netherlands, certainly didn't...[Read more...]
