1977 Dodge Aspen

The Dodge Aspen was introduced in 1976 and for 1977 received only minor updates. Body styles included a sport coupe, sedan, and wagon and trim levels included the base, Custom, and Special Edition. The R/T package was offered again, along with an R/T Super Pak. The R/T was Dodge's only 'performance' model and a total of 4,465 Aspen Coupes were fitted with the R/T Package. A further 2,284 examples received the Super R/T package.

Power was from a 225 cubic-inch Slant Six engine fitted with a one-barrel carburetor. It was the standard engine except in the wagon, which was powered by the new two-barrel Super Six. Optional engines included the 318- and 360- cubic-inch V8.

Standard equipment included a heater/defroster, drip moldings, windshield moldings, backlight moldings, driver's mirror, hubcaps, two-speed wipers, and a three-spoke steering wheel.

The Custom trim level added vinyl seats, wood-grained instrument panel, rear armrests, lighter, and bodyside moldings. The Special Edition Aspens had 60/40 vinyl reclining seats with fold-down center armrests. They also had door pull straps, power steering, power brakes, and glass-belted radial tires. The R/T package included a floor-shift three-speed manual transmission, Rallye wheels, blackout grille, R/T decals, and E70 x 14 raised white letter tires. The Super Pak added front and rear spoilers, louvered rear quarter windows, and wheel opening flares. Both the R/T and Super Pak could be ordered with a 360 two-barrel or the 360 four-barrel with Electronic Lean Burn.
