2000 TVR Tamora news, pictures, and information

The TVR Tamora is one of TVR's new generation models. With its exquisite sense of style and flair, it has been designed and engineered to be more accessible, and perhaps more understated, than some of TVR's more extreme models.

But its performance capabilities are hardly attenuated. It has breathtaking acceleration and top speeds, but is more sophisticated in its approach to achieving them. Both the ride and appearance of the Tamora are more cosmopolitan, but it retains the intricate personality and eminent power that hallmarks all TVRs.

With the fully convertible Tamora, TVR's stylists and engineers have surpassed themselves, creating a staggeringly quick sports car that's within the realms of affordability. Echoing vintage TVRs for its design cues, but with clean, modern lines, cabin comforts and functional innovations, the Tamora combines the best of classicism and motoring avant-garde.

The engine is a 3.6 litre version of TVR's own straight six, pushing out 350 bhp at 7,200 rpm and giving the car extremely brisk performance. In fact, it reaches 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. The Tamora shares the technology of the 4.0 litre found in the successful T400R racing car. It does, however, have a very distinct note due to an all-new stainless steel and titanium exhaust system.

Handling is benign but involving with double wishbones and coil springs over gas filled shock absorbers, and the ride makes it easy to use every day. Brakes are considerable cross drilled and ventilated discs all round with four piston callipers at the front. The front roll cage and door beams are manufactured out of very strong T45 steel. But despite all this hardware, the composite bodywork and weight-saving construction methods mean it weighs just over 1,000 kg, helping to make a nimble and accessible driving experience.
