Auction entries : 1The early Monarch was a standalone brand name built specifically for the Canadian markets. It was a medium-priced vehicle that was dropped for 1958 when the Edsel was introduced. After the Edsel was poorly received, Ford re-introduced the Monarch for 1959. It was dropped again for the 1961 model year after the introduction of the similarly priced Ford Galaxie. The Monarchs were similar to the Mercury's of the time and were given unique grilles, taillights and other trim to distinguish them. Names included Richelieu, Lucerne and Sceptre.
