2000 Chevrolet Prizm news, pictures, and information
For 2000, Prizm adds a number of select features to its standard features list, improvements to the 1.8-liter L4 SFI engine and new exterior paint colors.
'Prizm has long established a reputation among its owners for quality and dependability,' said Margaret Brooks, Prizm brand manager. 'New additions to the standard feature list and engine improvements provide added value to our product and will further help to attract import-intended buyers to purchase Prizm.'
New standard features added to Prizm Sedan include:
• Air conditioning
• Electronically Tuned Receiver (ETR) AM/FM stereo with seek, digital clock and four speakers
• Floor mats
• Full wheel covers.
New standard features added to Prizm LSi Sedan include:
• Power windows
• Rear window defogger
• Tachometer with outside temperature gauge
• Adjustable steering column
• P185/65R-14 radial tires.
Variable valve timing was added to the standard 1.8-liter L4 SFI engine delivering an increase of five horsepower and three more pounds of torque at a lower engine rpm. The 1.8-liter L4 SFI engine is teamed with a standard 5-speed manual transmission; optional on both Prizm Sedan and Prizm LSi are 3-speed automatic or 4-speed electronically controlled automatic transmissions.
New exterior paint colors for 2000 include: Black Metallic, Green Metallic and Light Gold Metallic.
Other key standard features on Prizm include:
• Driver and front-passenger air bags
• Assist grips
• Rear-seat child security door locks
• Delay-off lighting
• Trip odometer
• Intermittent variable wipers
• Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) with Automatic Exterior Lamp Control
• Stainless steel exhaust system.

The Geo Prizm was produced from 1990 through 1997 available as a four-door sedan or a 5-door hatchback. It was sold by General Motors but produced by Toyota. The Geo Prizm was basically a rebadged Toyota Sprinter, which was an upscale version of the Toyota Corolla.
In 1998, the name was changed to the Chevrolet Prizm after the Geo nameplate was discontinued.
