The new 7 series will arrive in early 2002 to compete directly wîth the Mercedes S Class and Audi A8/S8. The size will stay the same but more engine power comes from a variety of choices. The top of the line model will feature a 6 Liter V-12 capable of producing 430hp. The new car will also feature a less complex center console, due to BMWs new 'I-Drive' system. The dash is a set of 2-3 buttons wîth one large DVD based screen and a mouse like device. The screen features a list of commands, which the driver can scroll through to find the needed one. One button is then used to activate the command. The new 7 will also sport an X5 based SÚV, the X7, in late 2002.Source -
