Coronet R/T series
For customers seeking more performance, Dodge offered the Coronet R/T series. The 'R/T' nomenclature was short for Road and Track and was the newest entry to Detroit's burgeoning battlefield of competing muscle cars, introduced in late 1966. The first-generation Coronet R/T was a single-year-only model before Dodge thoroughly restyled the entire model lineup.

The Coronet R/T was given all the features found on the Coronet 500 plus the 440 cubic-inch Magnum V-8 engine fitted with a four-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust. They had a TorqueFlite automatic transmission, a special paint stripe, heavy-duty shock absorbers and torsion bars, a special hood with scoops, and heavy-duty brakes. They came as a hardtop coupe or convertible with the convertibles receiving map and courtesy lights. In total, 10,181 examples of the R/T passenger cars were built in 1967. All were powered by V8 engines. Most were hardtop coupes with just 628 examples being convertibles (about six percent of R/T production).
